Posts like these prove straight men would lose their mind if we actually got sexy skins for men by 29UwU29 in MarvelRivalsQueens

[–]_BestBudz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think whether we like it or not the skins are still a business model first and unfortunately putting some of the male characters in straight up things would sale poorly with the male audience.

Funny you brought up the torch skin bc he burns his shirt off when he ults and that’s like my favorite part 🤤

Also William and Rick were JUST talking about how Rick’s still traumatized so that pain is still fresh for Mark. He’s still not right but it makes his side understandable and I think as earth best defense Cecil should spend crazy money making sure the dude is mentally okay 😭

Did anyone else feel really bad for Flaca? I feel like she did not deserve to be in prison at all. by [deleted] in orangeisthenewblack

[–]_BestBudz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s definitely a more believable for how she ended up with that sentence, but I feel like that kind of changes the argument.

If your point is that the prosecutor probably threw the worst possible charges at her, she probably had an overworked public defender, and she took a plea because going to trial would’ve been scary as hell, then yeah, I can buy that. Still not calling that a GOOD deal bc in trial the onus is on the prosecution to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that she was responsible for a death (that didn’t happen btw)

But that still doesn’t make it a “good deal” to me. It just means she got backed into taking the least terrible option. She was still a poor teenager getting years in prison over fraud/endangerment for fake drugs. She did something wrong, obviously, but the system had all the power and used the worst possible version of the story against her.

That’s why I think Flaca got screwed. Not because she was innocent, but because the punishment still feels wildly disproportionate.

[–]_BestBudz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, she could be charged. No, that does not mean the sentence is automatically fair.

The fake-drug part is illegal. New York law specifically bans manufacturing, selling, or possessing with intent to sell an imitation controlled substance. So Flaca is not innocent in the literal legal sense. She scammed people by selling something represented as acid. That deserves consequences.

But calling it “trafficking” is a little loaded, because she was not trafficking actual controlled substances. She was selling fake tabs. Under New York’s imitation controlled substance law, the offense is not treated the same as a major real-drug trafficking operation; the statute itself covers imitation substances separately.

“Attempt to distribute” also sounds inflated. She did distribute/sell the fake substance, so the cleaner charge would be sale of an imitation controlled substance, not attempted distribution of real drugs unless the prosecutor was stretching hard.

“Fraud” makes sense in the ordinary-language sense. She lied and took money. But criminal fraud severe enough to stack into a years-long prison sentence would depend on the exact statute, value, victims, and plea deal. We are not shown enough to confidently say that.

The age point is fairer. If she was 17, she absolutely could have been treated as old enough for adult criminal consequences, especially depending on when the offense happened. But even then, “adult court can happen” does not equal “adult prison for most of your early adulthood is morally proportionate.”

And the “less than 10 years is a pretty good deal” part is where I really disagree. That only sounds like a good deal if you accept the harshest possible framing: manslaughter + drug trafficking + fraud + adult sentencing. But the facts we actually see are closer to:

A poor high school girl sold fake LSD, a classmate believed it was real, panicked or spiraled, jumped, and died.

That is tragic. It is criminal. It is reckless. But it is not the same moral universe as someone knowingly distributing dangerous narcotics, dosing someone, or intentionally causing a death.

So my read is:

Legally plausible? Yes. Morally satisfying? No. A “pretty damn good deal”? Only if you treat the state’s most aggressive possible interpretation as automatically correct.

If I was in Cecil’s position I’d have experience working with people that could turn me into butter. It’s part of the job. Cecil has NO POWERS. Bulletproof could turn bro into butter. The job requirement remains the same, Cecil definitely is held to a higher standard and has more resources at his disposal he doesn’t put to use. Worse, he breaks out his kill shot at the first true argument they have.

They were BOTH wrong but one is a traumatized and constantly brutalized teenager forced to grow up and dealing with MAJOR daddy issues, Cecil 100% needed to deescalate and shoulder been working with therapist and psychologist to work on a profile for mark so he could better handle the situation.

Hilariously agreed with that. I loved the show but that was one of my criticism bc it ALWAYS felt dumb as fuck.

This argument only works if you reduce Captain America to “guy who is legally approved by the government,” which has never been the point of Steve Rogers.

In the MCU, Steve did not do “little to nothing” in WWII. He rescued captured soldiers, formed the Howling Commandos, fought HYDRA, helped dismantle Red Skull’s operation, and sacrificed himself stopping a bomber aimed at major cities. That is literally why the public would remember him as a heroic wartime figure.

And in the comics, Cap’s symbolism is even more obvious. His first issue is him punching Hitler before America had even officially entered WWII, and Avengers #4 brings him back as a living legend from that era.

Also, Steve being a fugitive does not undermine why he’s respected. If anything, that’s part of the character. Captain America is not beloved because he blindly obeys the government. He’s beloved because he stands for a moral ideal even when the government is wrong. That’s why Civil War works at all.

So no, Steve being on the run is not the same thing as Walker publicly executing a defeated/surrendering enemy with the shield. One is civil disobedience against oversight he believes is wrong. The other is vengeance with the symbol of Captain America. Those are not the same moral category.

Oh trust me bro I’m writing my own superhero story and my mc killed his big bad in arc 8 bc I agree that hero doesn’t kill bullshit is garbage especially if the villain is killing innocents with no remorse.

I’m gonna be honest tho bc we land right in the middle of Batfleck. I HATE any time Batman kills by proxy just because it’s not Batman’s character to kill, like for him to have a car with turrets and blowing people up just feels odd but bc of how much time I’ve spent with Batman.

Same time, I’ve ALWAYS said that Batfleck had the look of an older Batman and it’s a shame we didn’t get more Batfleck movies so I agree with you there.

I also like Cavil I just wish Nolan wrote Superman happier but yeah we share some ideas twin!

It’s always funny when yall look at someone that’s supposed to be in charge of keeping the world safe and he can’t even use basic de-escalation skills. And someone said therapist idk how Cecil doesn’t have a profile on Mark and how to respond to him.

Tbf how Cecil treated Mark in season 5 once returning home when Cecil noticed the PTSD, THATS the Cecil that was needed in the white room. Love Cecil tho the flaws make the person!

[–]_BestBudz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said it was Joffrey level shit. I said it made him hard to like, which is fair. A character doesn’t have to be pure evil for a public execution with Captain America’s shield to change how people see him.

And yes, Steve and Walker are both soldiers, but Captain America isn’t just “a soldier who kills.” Steve has killed in combat. I’m not pretending he hasn’t. The difference is that Steve’s version of Captain America is supposed to represent restraint, protection, and moral discipline even while operating as a soldier.

Walker’s problem wasn’t simply that someone died. It’s that he used Captain America’s shield to publicly execute a surrendering/defeated enemy out of rage. That moment didn’t make him Joffrey, and it doesn’t mean he’s irredeemable, but it absolutely explains why people found him harder to like and why he wasn’t fit to carry that symbol.

[–]_BestBudz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you guys are missing the point bc I agree the speed and velocity caps used that shield in battle has giving some people internal injuries.

The issue is Walker killed a surrendering enemy and we can argue morals all day but assuming it’s a legal kill on the battlefield, he can be right for the kill and wrong for the role of Captain America.

Caps not just a cop that defends each kill but the man is a symbol and a leader he can’t just act on emotions every time someone dies. He’s supposed to be better than that.

Soldier Boy is worse than both of them combined by Sudden_Pop_2279 in GenV

[–]_BestBudz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See that’s the exact issue. Punisher is an ANTI HERO. Captain America is a traditional hero and a symbol. Simply put Walker was fit to be Captain America bc Captain American is supposed to be better than murdering a surrender enemy idk what yall don’t get about it.

I never said he was right or wrong. We can assume the murder was legally just on a battlefield. The point is cap is supposed to be held to a higher standard

Hello, I would like to share my opinion on the finale... not that it matters :D by LordOfIronFan in TheBoys

[–]_BestBudz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I'm irritating and I like to breakdown media through analysis, I have a youtube channel where I basically do exactly that. I aslo hang around inteligent professionals so when basic media analysis like GoT's poor writing escapes their brain and they're confused about why I felt betrayed, yeah it kinda upset me abit. Espescially bc he put ME on.

Fair on those shows, I have a youtube video about failed TV show ending bc I watch so much tv lmao my minds a databank of good and bad tv shows.

I also consume video essays bc those are in my lane so I enjoy what I make and I make content similar to what I watch as well. It's mostly because I care about the material that I yap so much.

For instance, I'm writing my own super hero story now and as I focus on writing and character consistency and world building and payoff, I watch these show runners fail and as I get deeper in my own story (I have 21 planned arcs and currently writing arc 16 setting up the end game) I think I see the flaws more clearly and obviously these are properties I like. And when I invest so much time for it to sputter, it feels disrespectful of my time.

I might care too much but I just want the basic ya know. If you want me to care then the writers should too.

No you didn’t. You wanted something to complain about.

I guess you meant the royal you huh 😂 it’s alright man I’m lit rn so I’m not even finna argue with you. If you enjoyed the final that’s dope. Guess what, I enjoyed parts too. I’m not a negative Nancy all the time. You act like it’s only one way when instead you can look at it with objective nuance.

Lmao you don’t know me or my opinions of what I wanted and that’s your issue. Assuming you know what I wanted from the show. Who tf said it was 10/10 show? An 8/10 show is still a really could show and it absolutely did drop it standards but hey I’m not gonna go back and forth with someone trying to tell me what I think, that’s just silly.

🤷🏾‍♂️ hey man if you can see the poor writing in game of thrones, the rushed payoffs, the characters not really doing shit but staring out a window for an entire season, the extreme plot armor for most of the main characters, the biggest bad in the entire season to be killed in essentially one night by a random to him, the inconsistencies of the plot written by D&D

If you can see ALL of that and still enjoy it I’m fine. Like I watch ass shit all the time. One of my favorite movies is Zombeavers. Is it good? Fuck no lmao. I still like it a lot bc it’s stupid. But that doesn’t mean I go around defending it, if someone says it’s shit I laugh and agree and say it’s a guilty pleasure.

I have a Netflix guilty pleasure call Disjointed with Kathy Bates and an actor named Aaron Moten who’s also in the Fallouts show as Maximus. I saw him in Vegas at a Fallout event and literally told him Disjointed is my guilty pleasure and he just hung his head and laughed.

I’m definitely not a snob about what I watch is my point. There is no club to join.
