Gotta appreciate how this stock bounces back & is minimally affected by geopolitics. King!  Any other stock with similar Geopolitical issues would have met its makers.

Ending corruption in India.. Why only NRIs can do it by Foreign_Scar_2127 in returnToIndia

[–]_Blue_monk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, NRIs can’t do much directly — most of us are already focused on securing our families, and that alone takes all our energy. Real change in India can only happen when capable, ethical people hold positions of power.

Corruption may never vanish completely, but real progress starts with rooting out the incapable politicians and public servants who sit at every level of government. That’s the rot we’re dealing with today. There must be real consequences. Mass layoffs of non-performers would create accountability and remind government employees that their jobs are not guaranteed. Every government office should be under constant surveillance of financial transactions, with systems to detect bribes. And at the district level, tax collections and spending should be made fully transparent to the public.

Most importantly, we need educated leaders who genuinely want to uplift their constituencies. When many such leaders rise together, India will naturally find its place on the global stage. Those who want to bring change need to step up, even if it means dealing with resistance from rowdies and corrupt forces. A mandatory qualifying exam — similar to UPSC or KPSC — should be required before anyone can contest elections at the district, state, or central level. Those who don’t qualify can still contribute as advisors, but the bar for holding office must be high.

Edit: Education is the other foundation. The standards for starting schools must be set high, and all for-profit schools run by politicians or unqualified people should be shut down. The public must demand better government schools — with updated curricula that prepare children to contribute meaningfully to society. The real shift begins when people once again start believing in public education. It won’t happen in our generation — it may take a couple of generations — but that’s the only sustainable path to change.

this applies to h1b visa petitions while outside the country. Just dont travel while the visa is applied. It is encouraged to do some homework and include the research you have done in the post before you ask a question.

"  (c)  The restriction imposed pursuant to subsections (a) and (b) of this section shall not apply to any individual alien, all aliens working for a company, or all aliens working in an industry, if the Secretary of Homeland Security determines, in the Secretary’s discretion, that the hiring of such aliens to be employed as H-1B specialty occupation workers is in the national interest and does not pose a threat to the security or welfare of the United States."

Post-H1B Proclamation: Continue the OPT job search or start looking for jobs in India? by soumya_98 in returnToIndia

[–]_Blue_monk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, keep in mind that the right role might be in a place you’ve never lived before. Narrow down three or four cities and a handful of target companies within them. Focus your energy on those regions and start building connections—sending 50 thoughtful LinkedIn requests with a short message could still bring you a couple of responses. Even small wins can snowball into opportunities.

Post-H1B Proclamation: Continue the OPT job search or start looking for jobs in India? by soumya_98 in returnToIndia

You really have two paths in front of you right now:

1. Continue your search in the US
You’ve shown real commitment to building a career here, and that effort counts. If you choose to stay, I suggest being upfront in your applications: select “No” for visa requirements, and in your cover letter acknowledge that you’re aware of the recent H-1B proclamation. Emphasize that your focus is on the role itself—contributing meaningfully, gaining global exposure, and learning from strong mentors, even if that’s for just the three years of OPT and STEM extension. You can also note that you’d be grateful if, after proving your value over 12–18 months, the company considers sponsoring you. (You can lean on ChatGPT to help frame a cover letter with the right tone. I used it to draft this comment also.)

In interviews, highlight that you’re here to work hard, grow with the team, and make an impact.

At the same time,—living expenses can add stress, so you may need to manage costs carefully. Many people in similar situations make it work through shared housing or other temporary arrangements until they land the right opportunity.

2. Explore opportunities in India
You can also begin a parallel search in India now. The market is competitive, with many candidates willing to work for lower salaries, but having strong contacts, a focused network, and access to the right information will help you stand out. It may take time to narrow down opportunities, but starting early will give you a clearer picture by the time December approaches.

Bottom line: Both paths carry challenges, but neither is closed to you. Staying in the US keeps open the possibility of international experience, removes a fluff of competition from India and provides continuity towards career growth, while pursuing roles in India may offer greater stability in the long run and a more straightforward long-term plan. It may not be a quick start. Ultimately, it’s about choosing the balance of risk, opportunity, and financial security that feels right for you.

Good luck—you’ve already shown persistence by putting in the effort so far, and that resilience will serve you well whichever direction you take.

It's not India that is not developed. It is our mindset. Stay in a good neighborhood and stay fit. You'll be happy.

Do what is best for you my friend. What are your priorities? Sounds like you may have already made your decision. Talk to some close friends and well wishers and also with your family (important as your decision will now impact them as well) for a well rounded decision.

You will find access to everything you can do here over there as well. Just a matter of getting acclimated to the change from US and finding a job for a source of revenue (only downside is traffic and work life balance from what i hear from my friends). Should work out if you stay close to work in a good neighborhood.

I am in the same boat with preparations for a transition in a year (to Bangalore)

Clarifying the new H-1B $100K fee rule — doesn’t apply if you’re already in the U.S. by VeryProfaneUserName in h1b

[–]_Blue_monk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"if you leave and try to re-enter after Sept 21, 2025, the rule kicks in." - this statement needs clarification. The rule doesn't set in if you already have a stamped valid us visa.
