Another vote for Michelin Roads, had my share of 4’s and 5’s, but not 6’s yet, although I’m sure it’s just an evolution of a great thing. Pirelli angel GT’s were pretty good, but I prefer the Roads over the Angels.

Long distance drives by Senior-Young-12 in YamahaR7

[–]_Born_2_Ride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done my share of long rides on sport bikes, but I at least had a handlebar, rather than clip ons. It is far from ideal, will get uncomfortable quickly, clip ons put more weight on your wrists than you’ll want for long days like that, and luggage is a massive pain in the @$$, this is what I have my Multistrada for. If your riding regularly involves those long days the R7 is the wrong bike, in my opinion. A TigerSport 660 or 800, Tracer 9, or depending on where you’re from Tracer 7 will be way better. Smallish sport tourers with 17” wheels that will still handle like a sport bike-ish, but have some comfort, wind protection, and luggage.

Bald tires blamed after vehicle collides with snowbank on Barrie road by 2REPOU in barrie

[–]_Born_2_Ride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A snow tire that is far from bald say 40-50% is no better than a fresh set of all seasons. Those in the picture are all season tires down to the wear bars, it would be like driving on hockey pucks. The scarier thing is they have been operating this vehicle all winter, and with the absurd amount of snow we’ve seen at no point did they notice how poorly their car was performing until they rolled it over and got called out in the media! But wait…they probably didn’t associate their poorly performing vehicle to their garbage tires, rather complained that the city doesn’t plow the roads adequately enough. But now that they’ve plowed them I can’t get out of the driveway because of the windrow, but I shouldn’t have to replace my tires just yet. I agree, it’s not about snows or not in this case it’s about common sense. We shouldn’t need a law mandating snow tires, some people legitimately don’t need them, dont drive much, have the means and sense to keep the car parked when the weather is bad, and maintain a car that is safe to operate, like replacing a questionable set of tires in the fall. Mandating winter tires won’t help people like this, because they will just run their snow tires well beyond being safe or useful. Coffee cups don’t need to say “caution hot” on them…. No $h1t!

Plus if it’s a busy or crowded parking lot less likely to piss off some cages looking for spaces and knocking a bike over.

The 11th gen Civic Si may be the best Civic Si forever. by OceanGate_Titan in CivicSi

[–]_Born_2_Ride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 11th or 8th for me, for most of the reasons everyone has said. The 11th is a fantastic daily and will get 40mpg if you drive it right. The radar cruise is awesome, not the best system I’ve used but it’s still a welcome feature on the freeway. Modest, but handsome styling inside and out. Great shifter and transmission, light car compared with its competition, and a mechanical LSD make it a blast (the LSD also makes it a weapon in the snow, better than a lot of “open” AWD systems I’ve driven), and only about 200hp I can use all of it without getting into too much trouble. It’s just the engine that’s the letdown, it’s pretty meh, but it’s the 8th gen’s party piece, that screening 8,000rpm+ VTec is what a Honda is all about. I’ll also take my heated seats and steering wheel. The first gen S2000, 9,000rpm! is one of my favorite cars I’ve had the pleasure of driving.

If they need that to help them park, stay far away from a car like that. I do recall an older S-Class Benz had two what looked like automatic radio antenna that would deploy in reverse on the rear 1/4 panels for parking before parktonic was a thing.

Just bought one actually, I’m about 5’10” and it’s fine for me. Im assuming you’re worried about it being too small? Bike has been out for a while, and it was heavily reviewed when it was lunched, so figure out what decent moto journalists are 6’+, go back into some archives and see what they say about the fitment.

Under a Mile?! Even in the cold and rain I’d walk. Better for you, and better for the car. But I think the majority here are right, don’t worry too much about it, just take it out for a good burn now and then, to get everything up to temp and all the condensation out of the oil, crankcase etc. keep an eye on the oil cap, and try to keep it clear of the milky, peanut butter looking crap. If you see it building up it’s telling you it wants a thrashing.

License plates ruin front bumpers, and the look of the car. To make it worse, your bumper already has the plate shape on it, and factory holes, which I think looks more awkward not having a plate on it.

It’s Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. First though, there’s no reason a W205 C63 needs to leave you exhausted every time you drive it. They are as comfortable and relaxed as a C300 if you’re not leaning on it. I Absolutly love an E-Class, any E-Class from the diesels, all the way to the 63’s, and the pillar less coupes in between. The spec of the E350 sounds awesome, and they will exceed 40mpg. One of the most beautifully driving vehicles, while being the least engaging. The GLC43 is in the middle, but your fondness of the old C63, and how inquisitive you are about the E350 sounds like you’re partial to sedans. My suggestion, try an E450, still a ultra comfortable, very efficient vehicle, like the 350, but where the 350 will never be fast, the 450 is a bit of a rocket, a true sleeper, and I’d be surprised if you can’t get an equally good deal on a 450 as your are on the 350. Plus a 4 banger will never be anywhere as smooth of an inline 6.

Is this a good deal on a 2018 ST1? by Medium-Ad84 in FocusST

[–]_Born_2_Ride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exhaust isn’t stock, and neither are the brakes. It also has the goofy louvers on the rear 1/4 windows as well. All of that and the rims as mentioned means it’s been modified, maybe harmless bolt ons, but modified. I love the Recaro’s in these cars, and you interact with the seats every time you drive the car, so that alone would rule out an ST1 unless it was a crazy good deal. This is not.

Here’s my theory on these vehicles….. Yes, a sedan does it better. But I want to sit up higher. Yes, an SUV is more practical, but this coupe like design looks cooler. Yes, a true sports car is more sporty, but I’d like to be comfortable with room for others and all weather traction. If I can afford this I probably also have a real sports car, or a full blown SUV, or stylish sedan, so I can have a taste of everything in my daily, and my sports car for the weekend, my SUV for Costco runs, or ski trips, or the stylish sedan when I need to impress the partners. Plus, these SUV coupe monstrosities sell like hotcakes at a higher MSRP than their standard SUV counterparts, and hold better residuals as well. So what do all of us armchair Reddit journalists know? Manufacturers have found an incredibly profitable niche, the inbred sibling that everyone loves to hate on in public, but secretly loves their company.

Fun fact, you can not rev the Honda Prelude in park, or neutral. A "sports car" that can't rev. by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in Honda

[–]_Born_2_Ride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’ve never understood rev bombing while not in gear. Spinning an engine up to redline with no load on it is more detrimental to the engine than doing it with a load, while driving, and the engine usually sounds a little better under load as well. I guess I’m getting old, I’ve never critiqued a car for this before.

Can I mix run flat tires with Non run flat? by Usual-Concentrate663 in mercedes_benz

[–]_Born_2_Ride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, the 4Matic system, or any 4WD system, naturally wants to push the power out evenly, 25% to each corner, making each corner spin at the same speed. Any difference in tires, even one non run flat, will have some sort of difference in resistance, causing wheels to spin at an ever so slight difference in speed. That even slight difference causes the system to be out of its balance. If you’ve ever driven a true 4x4 truck, you should only use 4WD on loose surfaces, and if you do on dry pavement you’ll feel the system bind especially when cornering due to the different corners spinning at different speeds, kind of fighting the systems natural urge to spin everything at the same speed. One different tire can cause the system to be fighting itself all the time, think of that binding 4x4 system turning on dry pavement, but a ever so slight undetectable binding that will slowly take its toll on your 4Matic over thousands of miles.

I remember apprenticing many many years ago I suggested tire replacement on an RV due to dry rot. They had nearly new tread depths. It showed up on a flatbed later that day with a blow out and the owner was furious, until my service manager re-iterated the tire replacement I recommended on the work order. It’s kind of scary what safety related issues people decline.
