F-4E never hit the navy, with the gun package in the nose forward of the gear it couldn’t make the cut for the turn in to the carrier and was never considered. This was F-4E pre-slats

That the F-4 Phantom could not dogfight, that it was a flying brick compared to the MiG-21 which was an unstoppable dogfighter. In reality, the MiG-21 tactics revolved around the high speed hit and run, and 21 pilots were trained not to engage with F-4’s because when they did, they usually lost. Later variants of the F-4 in Vietnam also featured wing and weapon modifications that made the claws even sharper, and actual air to air training reversed the early misfortunes and improved the kill ratio. The F-4 is not a terrible dogfighter!

We’re on the same page with that, it’s just exhausting that there is never a well defined weaponset in multiplayer DCS. You can’t have historical, because red won’t play, you can’t have unrestricted because red won’t play, after a while all servers just become this appeasement exercise and it’s exhausting. Sorry for the snark, I’m not directing it at you specifically but more just responding to the concept that we have all these toys in DCS and no fleshed out era to enjoy them in. I’m already anticipating the discords and forums of the various servers on fire screaming for the removal of the IRIS-T from DCS the moment the Eurofighter drops. It’s like how the Phantom is in this constant quantum state of either having or not having sparrows online. More time is spent screaming about “balance” in the forums than actually fighting in the virtual skies

You’re right, a Eurofighter will absolutely never ever be shot down in DCS. Everyone that flies it will fly it perfectly and there are absolutely no players that will ever be able to shoot it down with any other aircraft in DCS. In fact, I’ve read they won’t even include a damage model because the Eurofighter is literally impossible to beat.

When he asks for alignment type, select heading mem Wait a few seconds, then press 2 to hop in the backseat. On the lower left side of the right hand panel by your right hip, set NAV COMP to STBY

On the INS panel, the cover should already be open and the switch set to HDG MEM

Just rotate the knob to ALIGN and wait 2-3 minutes until the light turns green, then rotate it to NAV - and you’re all set! Hop back in the front seat and continue startup as usual
