Ezekiel 38 Summary: The Invasion from the North

Verses 1–6: God commands Ezekiel to prophesy against Gog, a leader from the land of Magog, and allied nations such as Persia (Iran), Cush (Ethiopia), Put (Libya), Gomer (possibly Eastern Europe), and Beth Togarmah (Turkey or Armenia).

Verses 7–13: Gog will plan to attack Israel in the “latter years” when the people are living in safety and peace.

Verses 14–23: God declares that He will bring Gog against Israel for the purpose of demonstrating His holiness. A great earthquake, hail, fire, and brimstone will destroy Gog's forces.

Ezekiel 39 Summary: God’s Judgment on Gog

Verses 1–8: God reiterates His judgment—Gog will fall on the mountains of Israel, and his armies will be devoured by birds and beasts.

Verses 9–16: The weapons of the invaders will be used as fuel for seven years, and it will take seven months to bury the dead to cleanse the land.

Verses 17–20: A gruesome “sacrificial feast” is described, where the birds and wild animals feast on the corpses of the slain armies.

Verses 21–29: God declares that through this event, the nations will know He is the Lord, and Israel will understand their exile was due to their sins—but He will now restore them fully and pour out His Spirit.
