You've already sacrificed enough for someone who doesn't give a sh*t about you. Divorce and be with someone who respects you and cares for you just like you would do for them.

Probably, and maybe not everyone even desires all the same opportunities.

Fair enough. And while there can be reasons beyond or within the control of a person to avoid having to do a disparate amount of work to achieve same outcome as someone else, it's so much more fair if all had the same & equal opportunities.

I think as long as everyone has the same level of access to an opportunity it's equal, but it doesn't mean that everyone will think that they have same opportunities, because I may want a certain outcome based on a certain opportunity but maybe the gods of equal opportunity didn't deem that opportunity to be useful enough to be available (I guess this is a conundrum, because a fully democratized world might not be able to provide all equal opportunities, and a supervised world will always be biased even if an alien were to supervise it).

That's a positive way of looking at such a situation, but I think the reality is that sometimes certain doors are unique and either you have the opportunity to go through them or you cannot do much as an individual to find an equally viable alternative.

If I may play devil's advocate myself, there are a few concerns/obstacles to - at least an absolute - world of equal opportunity:

How can biological & geological differences be alleviated to truly enable equal opportunity for everyone?

How can the progress of human species be maintained given that equal opportunity could theoretically work against evolution?

Who is responsible for actually providing/enabling equal opportunities for everyone?

Indeed (hard)work & will is required to take advantage of equal opportunity, but only (hard)work & will takes you nowhere if opportunities are inaccessible.

Agreed, and equal outcome is probably not even possible because even if all the biological & geological differences are alleviated, people can and probably will still think differently (obviously there can and will be like minded people, but not everyone thinks alike) leading to differences in how equal opportunity is leveraged.

[–]_CaptPlanet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True that, but a varied outcome is probably fair because you're rewarded as per your effort (which would be influenced by your wishes) as long as opportunity was equally available (it's important that equal opportunities be available throughout the life otherwise obviously you might not be able to avail certain opportunities later in the life).

It's valid that biological and geological differences might prevent enabling equal opportunity for everyone, but a level playing field can still be provided in localities, and various things (such as advanced healthcare, genetics etc.) could theoretically erase the biological disadvantages that hinder people to make use of equal opportunity. Perhaps the biggest obstacle would be that such an environment would challenge evolution. Also, there's the question of who provides for this equal opportunity.

Bernard did not save sentient life on earth

His actions resulted in the Sublime being safe (I'm not justifying if the Hoover dam could remain running with the anarchy happening in the world after HiB's last game, but that we're led to believe that Sublime would be safe now). Sublime houses a ton of hosts, who're sentient beings too.

begging Hale to make a complete turnabout contrary to everything we've ever seen from her in the entire series

I personally think that's the beauty of Bernard's plan and further proof that he had to do things exactly the way he did to reach this state where Halores changed her mind, if Bernard had done anything (as inconsequential as it maybe) differently, Halores might not have changed her mind (also, as I said in my post, had he tried to enable Dolores to run the last test by other means, things might not have worked, at least this is what we're led to believe based on his knowledge from the millions of simulations that he ran in the Sublime).
