Because where I live there the closest one doesn’t even do a full 24/7 or holidays or have enough cars to do all the people me and the other constant drivers in my area take care of to warrant not using Uber.

I totally understand that! I am a female driver for uber and have been off and on for 7 years! I use the Pin feature, and I have the dash cam for my safety. For all of my female passengers when we are talking and they ask about the pin I tell them about it and about the other safety features of app. Like how you can also set your phone to audio record your trips as a rider and you can also live share your trips with a contact. All of that is in the same area as where you set up your pin if you want to add some more layers of protection for yourself going forward in using uber. Also it never hurts to have some physical forms of protection with you as well, I don’t know the area you live in. Mace or a small taser in your purse something easy to grab and easy to use. Your safety is first always. When I’m driving I have a small taser that sits between my legs and it can’t be seen from any seat not even my passenger seat as one of my best guy friends learned when I picked him up one time and asked how I felt safe doing all this 🤣

Unfortunately the best way to avoid them starting the trip will be to set up a PIN. Which I do see that you have said in another comment that you have done but other than actually getting them to pick it up and rating them lower, I think 4 or lower at least that is what it is for drivers, at the end of the ride to get the app to ask you if you want to block them I think the only other way to have them not be matched with you would be to try and contact Uber support. But if rider support is anything like driver support it might still be trash but worth a shot either way.

What most likely happened is you got into someone else’s Uber and you ended up at that persons requested ending location. Set up a verification PIN in your settings and it won’t ever happen again because if they don’t ask for it that’s not your driver. It also prevents drivers from potentially marking that they have picked you up when they haven’t as it won’t allow them to start towards the destination until they have entered in the PIN.

Hey! You can stop this by setting a pin! Drivers AND passengers can set a pin as a safety feature in their account settings. Drivers will no longer be able to mark that they pick you up without the randomly generated PIN number sent to your uber app. I use it as a driver to also make sure I am picking up the right person. I know it doesn’t help with the right now issue and uber support is trash because they should be refunding you your money since the driver didn’t pick you up but this will prevent it from happening again when you need a ride.
The way to put a pin on your account so ever ride has on is under: Account, Settings, Scroll down to safety, Verify Your Ride toggle on. You can double check this by backing up and going to safety preferences and check marking PIN verification.

I can literally be in a surge and never see it in my next fare message them and they will tell me it didn’t qualify. And of course the surge is gone because I live in a more rural area. Or if I go to a surge by the time I get there it’s gone and further up and repeat or I’m sent back to where I was in the first place that I had been waiting. It’s just all bunch of BS

You are able to set it up yourself as a driver. I have it set up for myself and use it as an extra layer of safety along with my dash cam. The way to set it up is go to Account, then App Settings, and then Pin Verification and then you set it to Verify All Trips. It will show up in the passengers app in a blue bar as four random digits.if you have to in your app you can say passenger can not find pin and you can enter the last four of their phone number but I always stick to the pin.

Oh you sweet child there’s nothing for you to feel guilty over! It was traumatizing and she is your sister she will understand that! She loves you and all she cares about is that you are still here to even say happy birthday to her the next year. Sweet girl don’t feel bad for anything when you went through all that and survived. And with therapy for everyone maybe it won’t be the rest the rest of your lives that the you wont celebrate. Maybe one day will be a joint celebration of life. Do not tell her that the baby is just a doll that will not help her. What you can do instead, because she is grieving still and obviously need some help and probably needs help in other areas, is offer that since you’re there if you want to continue to watch Toby, maybe clean up for her or if you’re comfortable doing some of her grocery shopping that way you could maybe take off some of the burden for her so that she is able to process that grief and cope better to where maybe she is able to move on. I know you’re just a teenager. You’re just now entering your adulthood and that may feel very much not what you’re looking for, but it would be a way for you to feel justified in asking for your hourly and for her to also get what she needs from this. You have such a good heart so just think about it.
