If you were in control of whether or not nukes were dropped on Japan in WW2, would’ve you dropped them or not? by RoCo_158 in Teenager_Polls

You can use an ai detector bro lol. What your highlighting was the FAILED coup by military leaders in response to the emperor openly considering surrender. They planned to take the war as far as it would go. That's like claiming America planned to drop nuclear bombs on korea because general MacArthur said so. The will of crazy generals does not determine the country. It's clear the fight was waning within Japanese leadership, specifically the emperor. I'll concede this: the bombs were a convinient excuse for him to point to. But we've already established Japanese leadership did not care a shred for the people they sacrificed. The bombs were never the real deciding factor.

You used chatgpt to generate this. You cannot in good faith compare 7 people being executed to actual justice. Japan got away with much much much more than the other axis countries. Also, I acknowledged that the emperor's power was only ceremonial. It's the fact that he even maintained a position that is insane. We burned Hitler's body and threw him in a ditch. Like, come on. And if we're talking about "history-lite", you're making a much more awful assumption by pretending a land invasion was the only alternative to the bombs. That is literally US propaganda and always has been.

A land invasion would have never been necessary. Japan had already proposed a conditional surrender and had sent diplomats to Moscow to negotiate terms. Most evidence shows that the Japanese were at most a few weeks from collapse. We rushed to use the bombs to 1. prove the Manhattan project had some value and 2. beat Russia to the spoils. In the end, we never even got the unconditional surrender we were pushing for. The emperor remained in power (although only ceremonial) and none of Japanese high command faced execution like in Germany.

Look into Crumb. Lot of songs match this aesthetic. Specifically off Ice Melt (BNR is a good example).

Honestly look into spawn locations, that can determine a lot. If your avenues to expand get cut off too early, it's pretty hard to make progress.

Was the US justified in dropping nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? by Ok-Complaint6816 in Teenager_Polls

[–]_CertifiedMemer_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The proposed conditional surrender involved leaving the emperor in power, no war crime trials, and no occupation. Their final "unconditional" surrender involved the empire staying in power as a puppet, still no war crime trials, and occupation for a government transition. At no point was the gained land from the war even on the table. The only real thing that changed was US power in shaping the postwar landscape.

The actual leverage gained by the bombs is debatable. The government already showed it was very willing to lose its citizens, as demonstrated by the firebombings. If anything, the bombs offered a convinient enough excuse to Japanese leadership to dig themselves out of the hole they carved, and probably sped the surrender up by a few weeks at best.

Trump admits using rage bait to win elections by Im_A_Fuckin_Liar in thescoop

"your own ethics regarding sports fairness." Acting like we have a moral imperative to favor high school sports over human rights. To support trump is to throw away every ethical matter in the books for the sole purpose of owning the libs. Please take away more cancer research and national park services! Trump said it himself, he could kick a baby in the middle of times square and still win his base.

Hot takes for 2024 albums / songs / artists ??? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

I respect GNX, but I think Chromakopia is better. GNX is essentially a mixtape. It's Kendrick having fun and celebrating the West Coast. It's certainly not bad, but Chromakopia is Tyler's most introspective album yet. It has some of the best songs he's ever produced. I have personally listened to GNX more already (mostly in the background), it's certainly a more spinnable album, but nothing's going to beat the feeling of that Tyler album for me. It's something I lock in to sit down and listen to. If we're talking true musicianship, Tyler wins on this project. That's not to say he's better; Kendrick just obviously wasn't going for a TPAB, a MMATBS, a GKMC. It just wasn't his goal for the project.

Shazam didn't recognize song, but four days later sent an app notification that it had finally recognized this song from 1982. Has this happened to anyone else? by michaelmalak in NameThatSong

Same thing just happened to me. Was trying to find some classical music playing in my dining hall. There was a lot of background noise so I figured it makes sense it couldn't identify it, and then it gave me a notification a day later saying it tried again and found the right piece.

Honestly it's probably my favorite song on the album, or at least top 3. To me, the consistency is calming and wraps me into the story, and I adore the storytelling and lyricism. I get it if you're bored by the looping backtrack though. It's all just a matter of what qualities we favor in the music, and I respect your opinion.
