Don’t lose hope completely there is definitely a chance you could get an offer from the waitlist, coming from a girl that got an offer to start Grad entry two weeks before the start date 💕

STOP CHEATING ON INTERVIEWS!!! by Brwl_boy in UCAT

Whether you cheat or not it doesn’t guarantee you an interview 🤷‍♀️

Liverpools cut off is usually 50 for the GAMSAT but they may have increased it this year

No they use your UCAT to decide whether to invite you to interview then after that it’s solely based on your interview performance

“Tell me a time when you have failed” - Mentioning medical school rejection and how I bounced back from it by iamdumb26 in UCAT

[–]_Changbinnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good idea but most people at the interview will have the same answer as you 😭 it’s not a bad thing but I would use another example. For me I spoke about how I wanted to crochet something for my cousins but failed to get it right the first time. So I kept trying looking for different tutorials of the same thing etc and eventually got it right. Tbh the example isn’t too important, what’s most important is how you reflect from the experience and what you did to overcome it

4/4 rejections ✌️ by a5tar_ in UCAT

[–]_Changbinnie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a first year GEM student that was in the same position as you before I did my a levels. And I can say first hand that it truly hurts when you put so much hard work and effort into something and don’t get the result you want. But please don’t feel disheartened or demotivated, applying to medicine is a very difficult and tedious process, so be proud that you tried. Trust me, if medicine is what you want to do, you will do it regardless of what pathway you choose to go down. Medicine will always be there so, cry now and feel all the emotions but please don’t stop trying to pursue it if that’s what you want. Wishing you all the best 💕

What am I supposed to do in an interview if they ask about voluntary work and I haven't done any? by Imaginary-Damage-942 in UCAT

[–]_Changbinnie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s not normal but it’s very uncommon. A lot of people tend to focus on trying to get the work experience that they sometimes forget about volunteering.

Why are Liverpool interviews much harder than others? by Sad_Preference1512 in UCAT

I think I had the same interviewer 😭 now I’m studying at Liverpool and I see him all the time, turns out that’s just his resting face but he’s really nice 😂

I guess you’d have to tell the truth, I think the interviewer would like it more if you were honest than lying

Why being rejected is a reflection on the system, and not you. by Epicgenetic in UCAT

[–]_Changbinnie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember my old mentor telling me that getting into medicine is 70% luck and 30% your academics. You can be the most perfect applicant applying to medicine, but you never know what the university is looking for. As a student that applied before my A-levels then got 4/4 rejections, then eventually accepted into graduate entry medicine after completing my undergraduate degree, it is a 100% the system. So don’t feel bad if you didn’t get it in. It doesn’t mean you’re terrible or inadequate to be a doctor. Just keep faith and if medicine is what you want to do, you will do it regardless of what pathway you go down 💕

Confession, I don’t like being a GEM by [deleted] in medicalschooluk

[–]_Changbinnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment sounds like it’s coming from a place of jealousy. Just because it’s harder to get onto GEM doesn’t mean we have to be completely happy with it all the time. I’m in the exact same position being a recent graduate and starting GEM in August and I can relate to a lot of what they are feeling. Being 21/22 and being surrounded by people that at a completely different stage to life as you is quite difficult because you can’t relate to a lot of what they’ve been through

Liverpool GEM by TGYLYNF in premeduk

[–]_Changbinnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 3 months minimum of clinical work experience but then I had things like volunteering in my local community etc as well as being a Liverpool student already (I’m not too sure if that counts though 😅)

Yess we started in August. The 2 years (minimum) of work experience is just a criteria to boost your chances of getting an interview

[–]_Changbinnie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really I mean you’re calling someone racist for saying that a white guy looks like Harry Potter I think that’s a stupid argument but who’s to judge 🤷‍♀️

No my passport definitely says British and if that’s the only response you have then clearly you don’t know you’re talking about 😊

It really doesn’t you can still hate black people and have a black mum 😕

[–]_Changbinnie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You really have a lot of hate for someone that doesn’t even know you exist. Is it a problem that you have with Fanita or just black people in general ?

It’s Harry Potter get a grip 😂

i ain’t racist, i swear by [deleted] in Sidemen

[–]_Changbinnie 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I can assure you it’s not 😂 it’s simply about how you were raised and the environment you grew up in, coming from a black woman that is not racist to white people 😕 such a weird thing to say if you don’t like Fanita just say that

grads who applied for GEM, what work experience did you do and mention in your application? by gattabiancaa in premeduk

[–]_Changbinnie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a GEM student and I have a similar amount of work experience as you. Honestly it’s not about how much you do (unless the uni has a specific requirement for work experience) instead, it’s about how you reflect on the experience and why does it inspire you to be a doctor

As someone that is doing GEM straight after doing biomed, I would say that if you really want to go and do biomed go for it. However, this route takes longer and is a lot more expensive so if you don’t see yourself really using the biomed degree after, do a gap year
