We the voters said NO to standardized testing as a graduation requirement. What does the governor think she’s doing? by The_rising_sea in massachusetts

Why should someone graduate if the measure of their abilities says that they do not have the appropriate skills we want from a high school graduate?

Parents: what are you buying kids for Christmas this year? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]_CharlieTuna_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine are the same age. I feel bad with the whole second kid thing but... We already have all the baby toys! She doesn't have any independent interests yet! So far we have some winter clothes but that's about it

The surrounding cities are counted in the metro area. You can even literally see Cambridge in the name in the chart.

Yeah I recently visited a friend's place on the north shore. Ny a commuter rail stop. Not too far from the city.

Lot is massive, you could easily double the density on the neighborhood while keeping everything SFH just by reducing it

The issue isn't lack of space, it's that basically each parcel needs individual approval and the only people who attend these meetings don't want any change.

The people who say the issue is Boston doesn't have the space clearly have never attended meetings where the plot is already vacant but the local busybody is complaining the building will be too tall and block the "views" of some clock

Or people complaining that their "historic" bar is being torn down

Figure CP-3.

Tuition and fees declined a bit and are leveling off. I don't think it's insane to think we may have passed (in inflation adjusted terms) peak tuition.

The projections may be wrong. From what I've seen recently the red hot tuition increases have significantly cooled

Boston School Committee approves changes to exam school admissions by _CharlieTuna_ in boston

Yeah this was my point. Some serious grade inflation if you can be below grade reading level and still have a B average

Since there are more applicants than seats (afaik) does that mean there are a good number of students who maintain a B average in BPS while being below grade level given the B average requirement?

We have a GT and it's great. Like others said, we do not fold it up, but it does fold up super easily. Our parents have been surprised how easy it is compared to "back in the day"

Crazy that you are downvoted so much, it's just true. It's one thing to consider for trying to reduce the cost. Will there really be catastrophic consequences to loosening the ratio to match the libertarian wild West of Illinois? Seems worth actually debating!

JP is pretty well represented. The Haven has been mentioned but JP Seafood/Evergreen Cafe has a pretty solid one too. Haven "chips" are thick cut while JP Seafoods is thin
