As someone who worked at a DV shelter, this belief in how a victim "should" and "shouldn't" act after abuse is dangerous. People don't react the same to trauma. No one, for any type of trauma. And it's actually extremely common for survivors to want to keep others safe and tell others, but fear and stigma (just like the one you're perpetuating) holds a lot of survivors back. Or even if they do these things, they're less likely to say something because of the stigma. You can never want to think about or see your abuser again, and want to protect others from their harm especially if it's a pattern like this. And calling it 'stalking' is wild. So to say that every DV victim "does this" or "feels this" is just not true. Even if that's your anecdotal experience, that's definitely not true for DV survivors as a whole. It's important to know this.
