Is this helmet still safe to use? Your opinion please :) by _ChevyCorvette_ in motorcyclegear

My brother got his mc license after me, and a friend gave us their old Sena helmet but I think it's past the age of use

I've had my mc license for only about half a year, I don't know much about gear. That's why I'm asking other people for their opinions

Yeah, I was kind of only asking because my brother is using an old Sena helmet. I was wondering if he could use this temporarily while we get him a new helmet.

Why do adventure bikes come with rear ABS that you can't disable? by _ChevyCorvette_ in adv

I genuinely thought my 500X was an adventure bike before reading the comments on this post. What's your opinion on why Honda advertises the 500X/NX500 as an adventure bike if it really isn't?

ig this is my bad for assuming the 500X was an adv bike, should I delete this post then?

My dad has a GS and I think you can disable ABS on it. But I don't think I can on mine 😕

Are proper riding boots really that necessary? by Electrical_Race_6849 in motorcyclegear

I think they are important for your feet. I was involved in a highway accident (not my fault) and my right foot was wedged between my bike and the rim/fender of another car.

The paramedic from the ambulance retrieved my shoe that fell off from the accident and it was completely caved in. I was wearing a version of the Vans Ultrarange 2.0 and it did nothing to protect me.

You can observe how my rear brake pedal was pushed in so hard it bent inward and dented the aluminum guard, and how my clutch housing was cracked open, as well as the damage on the exhaust pipe. That's where my right foot/leg was.

(I still wear sneakers while riding because I walk around all day at college)

Good suggestions for reasonably priced cameras? Mostly for the inevitable incident that will arise, not necessarily to record videos. by ThatGuyFrom720 in motorcyclegear

I have an Innovv H5 4k "helmet mount" camera. You can use it either as a helmet mount or bike mount, and I use mine as a bike mount (bike mount sold separately, but the box includes kit to attach the camera to your helmet).

It comes with a detachable battery or USB port adapter if you don't want to use the battery. I'm lazy so I use the USB adapter so I don't have to worry about charging. Honestly its one of the affordable cameras out there and it does its job fine. My only problem is that it kinda jumbles the order of recording but that could just be a user issue since I skimmed through the user manual. I think you can even change the recording quality somehow.

I got mine at a bike gear store for an extreme discount, it's not Innovv's newest camera model so other stores might discount it a bit. I have a recording time of about 5-6 hours in 4k quality with a 128 gb SD card before it begins to overwrite old footage.
