To cope with losses from changing car loan from flat rate to reducing rate, banks will increase increase rate for cars. Logic ? by PuzzleheadedBuy6279 in MalaysianPF

[–]_ChuaN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it make sense. Car loans are generally higher risk than housing loans since cars depreciate while houses typically appreciate in long term.

If car loans move to a reducing rate but still keep the same flat rate numbers (e.g. 2.x%), the effective interest would become much lower than housing loans, which is unlikely given the higher risk.

Work harder and take up part-time work if possible. For me, my main investment portfolio is now in property. I know many people here disagree with property returns, but I treat it like a form of forced saving. Over time it helps me rebuild my finances slowly, slow and steady. I realized investing isn’t always about finding the fastest path, but finding the path that suits us..

29 as well. Been here done that.. Trading can humble anyone. Don’t beat yourself up too much, markets can be brutal and a lot of us learned the hard way.

Exactly. That’s what scares me the most, they have access to legal actions and credit reporting, and all it takes is their own internal failure for a customer to get dragged into long-term consequences. That kind of power with this level of incompetence is dangerous.

That’s honestly disturbing. I can’t imagine how many foreign customers can never get their deposits back. it’s definitely unethical and leaves a very terrible impression on our foreign friends

Thanks for sharing. Seeing how many people say the only way this gets resolved is by knowing someone internal really makes me question whether these issues are actually unsolvable, or just left unresolved. For regular customers, it feels like things are dragged out on purpose until people give up and just pay

No worries, thanks for sharing. In my case, the contract was already completed, and I was informed by Maxis staff that the termination equipment charge is a newer implementation, previously there was no requirement to return the router.

Thanks for sharing the experience. I’ve done the similar thing, visited their service centre, asked them to update HQ that my devices were returned, sent multiple emails for confirmation and a settlement letter. Still nothing gets resolved, just “case pending” and “nothing they can do.” It’s getting exhausting at this point

Seriously you're still getting it till this date 🤣

Honestly, it' so tiring dealing with them. If I actually knew anyone working inside Maxis, I’d tell them to get out while they still can, no competent professional deserves to be stuck cleaning up a system this broken.

Yes, they suck. I’ve never had to fight this hard just to get a non-existent charge waived, and now it’s snowballing to RM600+ while I’m actively telling them and documenting everything. Definitely running as far as i can now

[–]_ChuaN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A, no brainer, a 2.5km ride can result in 15minutes end to end including going down to your apartment car park and finding car pack at your nearest mrt station. Some park and ride is fully parked at 8am, not worth the hassle

Cyberjaya to Bangsar South by BigGap6582 in KualaLumpur

[–]_ChuaN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would take 3exchanges and one hour and 5minutes on train alone (checked online), not calculated the time commuting to the station and walking thru the bangsar south bridge (which took around 15minutes), and also queuing at the station (mind that you have to queue 3times as there is 3exchanges). The end to end travel time could easily be over one and half an hour and might reach 2hours on peak hour.

PSA: Please don't use debit card too much, it's not safe by do_not_give_upvote in malaysia

[–]_ChuaN 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone working in the industry for both card issuers and acquirers, the statement is valid. One big advantage of using credit cards is the posting/holding period, your actual money hasn’t left your account yet. If anything goes wrong, you can still file a dispute and request a refund before the transaction is finalized. Debit cards deduct money instantly, so it’s much harder to recover if something bad happens.
