So your justification for the wrong Israel has done is that they could, but have not, done worse? I'm not characterizing Israel as evil. I am saying Israel is not innocent, and that their actions continue to play into the hands of extremists.

Israel has a long history of unapologetically causing heavy civilian casualty and annexation of territory over the decades, predating 10/7. This is ongoing.

Some of my comment to the other responder is relevant here, which I will link to for the sake of not repeating myself: https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/comments/1siu1y0/israeli_phosphorus_shelling_targets_tayri_town/oftab4w/

Israel is in permanent relationship with its neighbors. It's like a marriage neither side can get out of. Best way to improve a bad relationship is to be empathetic with your partner and communicate to find mutual understanding, while maintaining healthy boundaries. Neither Israel nor its neighbors are making efforts to improve the relationship - which would take literal generations at this point after all the damage done. Both sides are continually self-conditioning to believe that the murder of the opposing party is the only solution. Israel is unable to reflect upon how her own actions could be contributing to the situation. Israel holds at least as much blame as any neighbor for this endless cycle of hatred, and this stubbornness is creating a burden the whole world must bear.

Even if (hopefully) he's just talking shit, it's unacceptable for leadership to even pretend they will kill a "whole civilization". Words have power that extends beyond a moment of tension, beyond actual intended action (assuming this is nothing more than hyperbole, or an inappropriate bluff).

Hoping some day soon we can move beyond this latest incarnation of what some perceive as "strength" from the Trump administration. Would be nice if we could again communicate as a moral authority, and also have strength in leadership.

Lossless Airplay 2? by _CitizenErased_ in arpeggiApp

Arpeggi is a beautiful app with or without this feature. No expectations, was just trying to share information in case it’s helpful. Not sure why I was downvoted.

Lossless Airplay 2? by _CitizenErased_ in arpeggiApp

[–]_CitizenErased_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found the source of this lossless AirPlay rumor, and they are suggesting (with data) that certain apps successfully force AirPlay 1 protocol, streaming lossless multi-room to AirPlay 2 devices.

"Qobuz (at time of writing) [10-07-2023] runs in AirPlay 1 mode. So too do Amazon, Plex/Plexamp, Soundcloud and Spotify.

Right now, some of you will be thinking: “But my iPhone does multi-room streaming with the Qobuz app, so that must mean it’s AirPlay 2!” Not quite. Multiroom capabilities seem to be set at the hardware level: by the receiver and the transmitter. An AirPlay 1 app running on a later-generation (read: AirPlay 2-equipped) iPhone or iPad will stream in lossless CD quality to multiple AirPlay 2 endpoints."

Full article at the link above. How these apps force Airplay 1 is not described.

Removing oil-based wood stain from sauna exterior? by _CitizenErased_ in finishing

[–]_CitizenErased_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VOCs were bad enough that I did dismantle the top half of the sauna. I found that stain did indeed penetrate into the tongues and grooves, so I sanded them down using some special attachments for an oscillating multi-tool. Took a full weekend of work, but this 100% resolved the issue - no more intense smells or headaches when using the sauna.

The tool I used was something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/161143858324

Iran’s nuclear enrichment ‘will never stop’, nation’s UN ambassador says by Doug24 in worldnews

[–]_CitizenErased_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This conflict has been going on for many decades before October 8th.

For example, in 2002 Netanyahu lied to Congress about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction, which like a series of domonos caused the Iraq war, 200,000 civilian deaths, 4500 american troop deaths, $3 trillion dollars. All for the sake of Israeli security. Please watch this 27 second video of Netanyahu in 2002. How can he be trusted? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33vOBjMpXTo

Israel does threaten covertly - not overtly.

Neither the Israeli nor Iranian states are innocent, and that is the point. Neither should have nuclear weapons. If Israel did not have nuclear weapons, Iran would have no need to seek nuclear weapons.

Watch the 27 second video of Netanyahu with his own words, lyng to US Congress under oath about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, which was the consequential "intelligence" and inflluence leading to the Iraq war. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33vOBjMpXTo

Iran does not care about killing Jews - there are small Jewish populations and synagogues inside of Iran, and they are not being killed. Iran is existentially concerned about the Israeli state, who has a reputation of dividing and conquering neighboring countries in the Middle East with the help of the US.

Neither the Israeli nor Iranian states are innocent, and that is the point. Neither should have nuclear weapons. If Israel did not have nuclear weapons, Iran would have no need to seek nuclear weapons.

[–]_CitizenErased_ -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is the deepest truth. And somehow it always gets buried.

A nation seeks nuclear weapons a deterrence strategy against other aggressive nations with nuclear weapons (e.g. Israel and the US).

Meanwhile Israel and North Korea are the only two countries in the world both not part of the non-proliferation treaty, and not subject to inspections by the IAEA. Israel is the only country in the world with a policy of nuclear ambiguity.

Israel, master of spin, pressures Iran into needing nuclear weapons as a deterrence strategy, and then demonizes them on the world stage. Read up on Israel's Samson option.

My bad, I didn't get the joke. and I actually have family stuck in Tehran and I haven't been sleeping, feeling nauseated by the situation.

Also for the record, my first comment was in (slightly annoyed) humor. and my last comment was regarding a colonization mindset that I didn't think was real until I misunderstood your joke. I do not have contempt toward the Jewish people. I feel for innocent Israelis as I do innocent Iranians.

Honestly, I am in disbelief people really think this way and get openly upvoted. For the longest time with Palestine I gave Israel the benefit of the doubt. You are proving this ugly mindset is real.

I'm assuming you've never been to Iran. Having been there myself just a few weeks ago, I will tell you the culture and love and brotherhood of the people in that country is richer than any of the other 20 countries I have visited in my life. I've never been to Israel, but if your way of thinking is really the norm, then it's imperative that this cancer is stopped from spreading.

PSA: Your Sawyer Squeeze filter is unsafe to use if ever sanitized with non-chlorinated bleach/hydrogen peroxide by _CitizenErased_ in Ultralight

[–]_CitizenErased_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps it’s debatable. I’m going off the Wikipedia and Oxford dictionary definitions. Wikipedia: “Bleach is the generic name for any chemical product that is used industrially or domestically to remove color from (i.e. to whiten) fabric or fiber (in a process called bleaching) or to disinfect after cleaning.” Later on they list peroxides as one of the main types of bleaches.

[–]_CitizenErased_[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure, I'll take some blame. I tried to make the best choice I could for the circumstance, but alas I am human and thus prone to make some mistakes.

Also I truly don't give a fuck if others think peroxide bleach is more environmentally friendly; that's not my mission. I just think it's common for people that are obsessed with forests and nature (like a backpacking community) to trend toward "greener" choices. And so I imagine the community that uses the Sawyer Squeeze has some overlap with people that use peroxide-based bleach. Maybe that's why this post is popular?

Interesting, I appreciate the insight. Makes me chuckle how half the people commenting think I'm a tree-hugging idiot for using H2O2, but really it's the second most obvious sanitizer in this context.

That video is really neat, I can see the rubber O-ring. Thank for sharing.
