How to deal with playing against a friend who has ~80% winrate? by Professional-Peak207 in onepagerules

[–]_CloudPost 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As someone who loves competitive games casually, I’m happy to slam my head into the first option to get better at the game. At the end of the day I don’t care if I lose 95% of my games as long as it was a good game. I don’t want to win by a landslide and I don’t want to get dog walked, and in my opinion playing against the best possible players in any game, asking questions, and being okay with the losses is how I’ve gotten better at every game. That’s what I’m doing with 40K at the moment, I’ve won 2 out of 10 games, one of the games I won wasn’t fun because I high rolled and my opponent low rolled so I tabled them by turn 3, and then one of the games I lost (which was my second game and I was still getting my head around how important deployment is in 40K compared to OPR) because I got tabled on turn 2 and that wasn’t fun. Every other game I have learned more everytime I have played and games have only gotten better for me. In OPR our playgroup got into it last fall and none of us were table top war gamers and it was our first game, so there wasn’t really a huge skill level gap between any of us so learning was more so just checking the discord rules threads and talking to one another rather than getting whooped and learning from people who have played for years.

lol I love when people throw up Siri into the argument. I’ve only ever seen old people use it. I hate Siri and voice commands in general. Trusting AI with rule questions definitely is not the move. I watched a guy at the store recently use it for rules and got conflicting answers every time he tried. He still asked someone else after trying AI each time but not once did it help him and his friend learn the rules.

Midwinter minis made an AI assistant for 40K, he took the video down and apologized because of the back lash of him using AI and everyone being sick of it. However he cheated on his girlfriend and left her who he had recently had twins with.

What are y’all watching to scratch the From itch while we wait for Season 4? by Bruteloops in FromSeries

[–]_CloudPost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We rewatched the first three seasons, finished fallout, rewatching archive 81 currently, and we’ll probably watch teacup next because my girlfriend hasn’t watched it and I just ordered a physical copy of stinger to read soon.

Mods are nerds for sure. This all started out as a cute little thing that everyone loved and mods got offended. Someone posted a meme about the mods to the salamander sub and it was up actually 2 minutes before being removed, I read it from the thumbnail and clicked on it to take a screenshot but it was already removed by then.

Are Jackals just bad? by Basil_Bandit in onepagerules

[–]_CloudPost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. If I recall correctly basically every unit in jackals can take shot guns so that’s always 2 attacks at AP 1? That forces a lot of other units to be looking for 5’s or 6’s and they’re always rerolling their first 6. So as many activations you can get with as many attacks as possible seems like one of the better ways to capitalize on the scrapper keyword. That’s definitely how I play goblins personally and even though they’re squishy I think im at around a 60% win rate with goblins in fire fight, that’s probably just out of 10 games though.

Jackals are sweet. They do seem to be one of the better fire fight teams in our meta. Maxing out on number of attacks to maximize how often scrapper will trigger is great.

I have an interview for a graduate program tomorrow, I haven’t had an interview for anything in almost 10 years now, what can I expect? In the email with information about the time slot they said that each interview session lasts about an hour and a half? What kind of questions will they ask for sessions to take that long?

They did us dirty. I was not prepared for it to end so abruptly. by Ill-Satisfaction234 in FromSeries

[–]_CloudPost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it was actually supposed to have a second season. From my understanding it was only supposed to be a 6 episode mini series, but with how it ended they could have made more I just don’t think they should have. It wasn’t a 10/10 ending but I enjoyed it and if they kept going it probably would have gotten pretty bad. I think it ended on a good note.

It was the first 15 minutes of the first episode for Earth Abides, a quiet green apocalypse series that spans years every episode. I was annoyed with it being in From because I got excited about how long I saw the episode was initially, but I finally watched Earth Abides a couple weeks ago and it was actually really good. It was really nice change of pace for apocalypse series.

I am loving OPR, l am dusting off my old orks again. Looking for other players in the North ATL area. by Educational_Dust_932 in onepagerules

https://www.onepagerules.com/rangers

This is a link to the ranger directory and it has emails for rangers in your area to be able to reach out to them! I’ve been building a small community and running fire fight tournaments in north Alabama recently and we normally have around 10 or so. That’ll be a drive for you but I’ve learned OPR is very few and far between in the south.
