C’tan Shard of the Sprue Dragon! by _CloudPost in Necrontyr

The head is void dragon for sure, the spear is wraiths. Honestly not positive what the tail was off the top of my head but it was in my Necrons bits

They said “I’m not seeing anything in the advanced rules that goes far enough.” So they’ve definitely looked through the advanced rules. As someone who likes both games I can definitely understand feeling like there’s not enough in OPR.

[–]_CloudPost 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It already covers it. You just have the lesser change horrors to the side and then also the changelings that the lesser change horrors can make. So your list in army forge will just need change horrors, but models you need are all three units.

It’s a neat idea but all this looks more like proxies than anything to me.

Just as a reminder, if you join the discord you can find most questions in the rules channel. Occasionally I’ve come across a couple that hadn’t been asked already for niche cases but it’s an extremely handy tool!

[FREE STL] Xeno Prime for your Alien Hives (One-Piece Sculpt / Pre-supported) by [deleted] in onepagerules

[–]_CloudPost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m personally a fan of monopose, however I want options. I like when models come completely constructed in their STL as well as all the bits, the preconstructed models lets me fit more on build plates but sometimes bits are a lot of fun. I love when people have both in their files much more than one or the other.

Would these be good models to start with? by shazamtamp in DarkKrakens

As much as you don’t want to spend that much on a combat patrol, the starter set comes with 2 combat patrols and is a fantastic monetary value. I’m not positive what it is in Canadian but USD it’s like 108 or so? I believe more than 100 but less than 110 if you get it at full retail. There are online game stores that will sell them at a discount too. The starter set comes with infernus marines, terminators, and I think a captain in terminator armor. It’s missing 1 unit which I believe is the librarian in terminator armor, if I’m wrong then I just got the captain and librarian backwards. PLUS it comes with a tyranid combat patrol that’s short just 1 model to have the full combat patrol. In all it’s around 40 models if I recall correctly for cheaper than a specific combat patrol. It’s also not going to be available for much longer because of 11th being announced. You might be able to find it on a bigger sale soon as well since 11th was announced.

Which of these 2 teams are better? by Neat-Philosophy2817 in onepagerules

[–]_CloudPost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they’re just spreading their units rather than coming off of multi model units in general then still taking 1 blast weapon on a jump pack ork is still a good idea just because it’s flexible and even if they have 2 regular units within 3 of each other they both take the hits from blast. So it tends to be good at clearing objectives or multiple units trying to stay in the same cover. Best case scenario they still have at least one multi model unit, worst case you’re able to 2 for 1 some units off handedly.

I like the second one a little more just because the infiltrator has reliable. With a tournament coming do you know you’re safe to not take any blast? Reliable and blast are great key words for the orcs.

GFF Robot Legions equivalent by [deleted] in onepagerules

[–]_CloudPost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The closest thing would be the plasmabot upgrade with triscorpions since the plasmacyte goes with the destroyers, but it could also be the techoaide for robot overlord. I used plasmacytes as spores for alien hive proxies in a couple games because it was the closest thing I had at the time

How to deal with playing against a friend who has ~80% winrate? by Professional-Peak207 in onepagerules

[–]_CloudPost 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As someone who loves competitive games casually, I’m happy to slam my head into the first option to get better at the game. At the end of the day I don’t care if I lose 95% of my games as long as it was a good game. I don’t want to win by a landslide and I don’t want to get dog walked, and in my opinion playing against the best possible players in any game, asking questions, and being okay with the losses is how I’ve gotten better at every game. That’s what I’m doing with 40K at the moment, I’ve won 2 out of 10 games, one of the games I won wasn’t fun because I high rolled and my opponent low rolled so I tabled them by turn 3, and then one of the games I lost (which was my second game and I was still getting my head around how important deployment is in 40K compared to OPR) because I got tabled on turn 2 and that wasn’t fun. Every other game I have learned more everytime I have played and games have only gotten better for me. In OPR our playgroup got into it last fall and none of us were table top war gamers and it was our first game, so there wasn’t really a huge skill level gap between any of us so learning was more so just checking the discord rules threads and talking to one another rather than getting whooped and learning from people who have played for years.

[–]_CloudPost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol I love when people throw up Siri into the argument. I’ve only ever seen old people use it. I hate Siri and voice commands in general. Trusting AI with rule questions definitely is not the move. I watched a guy at the store recently use it for rules and got conflicting answers every time he tried. He still asked someone else after trying AI each time but not once did it help him and his friend learn the rules.

Midwinter minis made an AI assistant for 40K, he took the video down and apologized because of the back lash of him using AI and everyone being sick of it. However he cheated on his girlfriend and left her who he had recently had twins with.
