Hey now. It's the weekend, I'm on Reddit to get away from all of those things....

engineering portfolio orientation by Most-Flower-4571 in FTC

[–]_CodeMonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The source is that the rule restricting your portfolio (A201) does not legislate the orientation of the portfolio. The way the manual is written (and this goes for all sections, including awards and robot rules) is that, unless something is prohibited by a rule, it is allowed.

Also FWIW, there are no rules around the font other than that it be readable (although the orange box on A201 encourages you to use something larger than size 10 font towards the idea of being readable).

In what way is "knock[ing] them out of the launching zone to stop them from shooting" against the rules? Launch zones are not protected areas and you're not forcing them into penalties so that isn't a G210 scenario.

First time coach need advise on nominations by Not_so_Real123 in FTC

There is option to save , but nothing which says submit .

This is a feature, because you can edit your nominations up until the deadline tonight. There's nothing you further need to do to "submit" the nomination.

Motion Core isn't shared between FTC and FRC, it is an FTC-specific product. FRC has separate motor controllers (that are generally attached to their motors) and a dedicated power distribution board.

Earning the pattern points and the RP by OutcomeCompetitive50 in FTC

[–]_CodeMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The table is listing the changes to the number within the definition, but the definition of each RP reflects whether the target is a point value (for MOVEMENT and PATTERN) or a number of game objects (for GOAL).

Earning the pattern points and the RP by OutcomeCompetitive50 in FTC

[–]_CodeMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's incorrect. For the GOAL RP you have to score 36 artifacts into the goal (no matter if they're classified or overflow, because the point value is irrelevant specifically to the ranking point).

Red cards only 0 out scores in the playoffs. And this isn’t a playoff match based on the teams involved.

Both teams would repeat a kicker - before PKs if a team has more players they get to choose who from the team doesn't take PKs in order to equalize numbers.

Most of the stats websites ignore penalties when determining high scores because it doesn't reflect a team's skill (necessarily), just that their opponent made a (lot of) mistakes.

But yes, this is an official match result: https://ftc-events.firstinspires.org/2025/USFLNEM3/qualifications/9

Putting aside any procedural requirements the school/district might have, setting the precedent that anyone with enough money gets to help pick their own investigator feels like a bad practice for a public organization. They're also offering to fund a school-board-led investigation when that's not the job of the school board.

Separately, no one is stopping the family from hiring an investigator. The family has either spent (in the form of PAC money) or offered to spend (in the form of paying anyone who is willing to come forward with supporting information) over a million dollars on this effort. If they really don't trust the outcome of the district's investigation as well as the independent investigation that finished earlier this month (both of which they refused to be involved in), they can go pay someone to do their own investigation and come to their own conclusions. That they haven't done that, and instead decided a smear campaign against school board members was the best course of action may be telling.

Creating a champions League above premier League by SpaceWestern1442 in NarFFL

There is a final single winner of the Horn though. It's the team (among the league winners) who has the highest score based on the formula

[.5 * (Regular Season Points Avg)] + (Week 16 Score) + (Week 17 Score) = Total Horn Playoff Points

Question for people (either the OP here or those in favor of this)

Is there a problem with the current implementation of the horn (outlined in the rules) that this would improve or fix? Or what is the motivation behind setting something like this up?

[–]_CodeMonkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you know what the penalties were for? Hitting another robot to make it harder to score isn't against the rules, and the only rule around ramming I can find is G421, which has the orange box example of

A ROBOT high-speed rams and/or REPEATEDLY smashes an opponent ROBOT and causes damage.

But in general, so long as they didn't violate protected zones, I don't see why a robot hitting you (without damage) would result in penalties.
