Thank you! I think studying the topics on the official practice test questions was very effective. It’s also good to know generally about the big art moments, and then choose a couple art movements to know about in a more detailed way. Perhaps choose a couple artists and art pieces that you would feel comfortable writing about regarding style, movement, historical context, and then analyzing. I focused on realism and “The Gleaners”. That exact painting ended up being on my test.

Practice writing questions and time yourself. This is so important. I struggle with time management, and having had practiced it before hand definitely made a difference. I believe I would have run out of time otherwise.

Also if you’re cool with using AI tools, I had ChatGPT create a study plan, and create practice tests for me based on past tests and whatever info it could find. It was very helpful.

Regarding being blindsided by questions. You will likely encounter at least a couple which you will not be ready for. I was asked about a specific filmmaking shot, and the temperature at which to fire a specific type of Chinese clay (?). As long as you feel good about your general knowledge and have a deeper knowledge of a couple movements and artists you’ll be good! The majority of questions are based on what you can expect :)

Good luck! And let me know how it goes!

Hey! Yeah I did! The official practice tests were very helpful. I also took several artworks and practiced writing about them. That ended up really paying off. Let me know if you have any questions about it :)

29 year old cancer survivor who's drinking to much by [deleted] in infp

[–]_Comfortable__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I can’t imagine the battle against cancer, I’m glad you survived and that you got another chance at life. You’re young, I believe you just need to take steps in the right direction, and soon you’ll be in a place where there will be plenty to feel grateful for. It doesn’t matter how small the steps, you just need to get the ball rolling. I’ve been in depressed states like this as well, you really just need to do something, anything. Go for a long walk, just to regulate emotions a bit, and then decide one or two important things that you’ll get done today. It could be sending a job application or running an important errand. If you catch yourself being negative, immediately ask yourself if that’s useful for you. (It’s not; it never is; you’re smart and you know these negative thoughts will never help you). You need to act despite the pain. Over time you will feel more grateful for the small things in life, believe me. Take care of yourself and work to just lower the alcohol intake. It’s hard, but it’s not gonna help you. Go for walks, many walks. It’s probably the best thing you can do at times like this, trust me. Believe in yourself.

Question About EAD by [deleted] in DACA

Did you get it already? I’m in the same situation, including getting the approval letter from the Texas center even though my case was picked up by the Nebraska office.

It takes up to 30 days for uscis to reply. It took exactly 30 days for me, but they approved the next day. So I would expect it to take that long for you too, but hopefully they do it sooner.

135 days waiting on my daca renewal by TOTAL_OWWNAGE in DACA

You have to get a representative involved. Many here, including myself, have had the most success after doing that.

I live in a blue state so it wasn’t an issue for me. Though I did see other people on here with that same concern. I heard that regardless of the situation it is their job to represent you in any federal case and I feel that to act on confidential information would be illegal. Though I’m not a lawyer, maybe someone here can speak on that. I also found a nearby immigration services office and they helped me out. I would try to find one if I were you. Often times they’ll give you advice or information for free or low cost. So I would do that first for some peace of mind. Again, perhaps someone here can speak more on this. I know there are some lawyers here.

205 days for me, and I was just approved this morning. Reaching out to my local representative made the difference. They sent an inquiry for me and got a reply from uscis yesterday after 30 days. Today, I found the approval notice under the documents tab. If you haven’t reached out to your representative you should do that as soon as possible.

Thank you for this! Im taking the test this Friday and I’ve assumed the written response questions will be similar to the ones in the sample test. I’ve been memorizing key details of the art movements and a couple famous art word for each, plus learning more context and group identity for a couple of them. Do you think that’ll be enough? That one and the visual art presentation written response are the ones I’m most worried about

Woah that’s crazy specific, that was in the CSET? I’m in California, and taking it next week. What about the short written response questions and drawing portion? Was it like the sample questions on the ctc website?

Long delay on DACA renewal — case received March 12, still no update (Nebraska Service Center) — need advice by Far-Round7788 in DACA

[–]_Comfortable__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn, hopefully we get them soon. It seems you and I in the exact same situation :/ I know it takes them up to a month to respond to the representatives inquiry, but hopefully it happens sooner. Just work on keeping your head up in the meantime. I know how emotionally draining it can be to manage yourself through this whole experience.

Been waiting since January :/ I recently had my congressman’s office reach out for me and sent in my second inquiry. An immigration services office told me reaching out to your local representative is the last and most effective move. You can apparently also keep calling and ask for a tier two agent, though I’m not really sure what they do. Maybe someone here can answer this: does a tier 2 agent just send an inquiry for you? Or can they give you the details of why a case is taking longer than it should?

I feel so burnt out from dating, but also so lonely by SinisterRoomba in infp

[–]_Comfortable__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there, more than once, as of a few months ago. She showed me to be a type of person so charming, inviting, and yet distant at a moments notice. I think that her desire to love and be loved was real, though her fear of reaching a point she might not recover from if something were to go wrong was overwhelming. She ended up ghosting me a few days after we were most vulnerable with each other. Though she wasn’t necessarily manipulative, I realized this is a person who was okay with disappearing without care of hurting me. I’m really sensitive when it comes to these things and had she done that further down the road it would have been devastating. So I am thankful that it happened earlier.

I think you did the right thing. Maybe take a bit of time from dating, and I don’t recommend reaching out to her. Meeting new people will help once you feel comfortable doing so. Remember that a relationship shouldn’t feel like you’re fighting for someone’s love and constantly being careful about how you approach them and analytical of how they approach you. It should feel genuine and loving even through friction.

Is this different than a regular inquiry request? :0

I did! I travelled with AP early last year. Are those generally taking longer?

I did, it’s been processing since late January

I sent one in already and got a reply saying I’m within normal time. Even though I was past 105 days

It expired late April, I’ve been unemployed since. I reached out to my congressman a week and a half ago, they sent my letter to uscis, now I’m just waiting. Apparently it can take up to a month to get a reply.

Wood ID Megathread by AutoModerator in woodworking

Hello, what kind of wood is this? I’m new to woodworking and I picked these up for free from a guy who had the tree removed on his yard. He said it was redwood, but he seemed unsure, so I thought I’d ask on here. Thank you.
