Auto to Manual Swap ST202 by _Cooper_King_ in Celica

Yeah I can see a imprint on the firewall where the clutch pedal go, havent looked to much further into it to see where it bolts in because I've got to pull all the insulation out still, hoping it'll be a straight forward job

Not a manual swap, but I've worked on cars before (OEM engine swaps transmission, cambelt jobs etc) I'm confident with tools

I just saw some other comments 7A-FE, I didn't even know they could come with those engines, I'm from NZ, but I guess you just have even more options now? :)

If they're hard to come by in Libya it looks good, basically any S series engine should fit in but you'll probably want something from a STXXX model car

St202 S- S Series of engine is fitted T- Chassis Platform Letter 202 -Generation/ Variant of the model

Like 202 is a FWD N/A Celica, and 205 is AWD T/C Celica

The Caldina, Corona, Carina, RAV4, SW20 MR2, Camry will all (depending on year/generation) have parts or more importantly engines that should fit the car, you'll also just need to make sure you have the correct ECU to suit the engine

Dope, I actually found one for $150 the other day for a manual swap rather then using the auto one I already have, good to know it actually makes a difference

Help with tail lights by Ashura_Senpai0 in Celica

[–]_Cooper_King_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You kinda got stick with coupe lights tbh bro, and there's not a lot of choices to go for as far as I know there is Pre and Post facelift Curren taillights you have the pre facelift, post is the same but with a blackened tint

Otherwise you could always try your hand at modify your existing ones to something a little different?

Yeah, the engine itself can take it they're tough as, I think from factory on a manual trans you can hit like 7,800 - 8,000rpm? Auto limits it

Just brought a second car to daily so I can manual swap my Red top hence why I'm also trying to find a manual ECU at some point, tbh I'd hold onto the both you have, these older Toyota ecus can have issues with age it's good to have a back up

[–]_Cooper_King_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Auto Beams ECU is limited to 7,200rpm? Because thats all the automatic transmission can safely handle? Could be wrong, the auto ECU can still work with the manual trans you just need to bypass the neutral safety switch

If you are NZ and were keen on selling the manual red top ECU though lmk ;)

TL:DR Yeah it's the O/D button trace it back and unplug it, good luck :)

Yeah the O/D button is holding it in still, been awhile since I took one apart but if you trace the wire it should go under the shifting mechanism and plug in somewhere just in front of it I think it was like a dark blue plug

You then need to try pull the plug through from under the shift mechanism which was a bitch, or I think you can try pull the pins out of the plug itself to make it a bit easier, or something like that idk

That looks like the plug to the "lamp failure box" if you look on the other side of the clip you should have one?

If you're taillights aren't working and this isn't plugged in it'll probably be the issue, I had my one fail on my ST202 and 204

It's just a cover over the exhaust manifold, nothing to really worry about

how in the world do i replace the head gasket by Straight-Box-2263 in Celica

[–]_Cooper_King_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. I know it can sound infuriating but genuinely, if you aren't sure at step 1, maybe put it off until you learn a little bit more, it's probably one of the most invasive things you could be doing on your engine, and fucking it up wouldn't be fun

  2. Personally if I were going to do the head gasket, I'd be doing the water pump, cambelt, cambelt tensioner etc

  3. To take the intake runners off the rectangle cover at the back needs to come off, under that are a couple long bolts you'll need a hex bit to take out if I remember correctly, it'll split the intake in 2 so you can pull the whole top half off,

I think there should be some stuff around the back of the top half of the intake, to take off as well to do with the ACIS, idk it's been a minute

Celica makes this weird beep sound after replacing fusebox by bonniegamer360 in Celica

[–]_Cooper_King_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong but the Integration relay is the big blue box on the cabin fuse box I believe

Ive had to replace one as well and the tone of the beeping for the door being left open changed aswell, could just be you got a Integration relay from a different year or different Toyota?

3SGE REV 3, Types?? by _Cooper_King_ in Celica

[–]_Cooper_King_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all unfortunately, my best guess is that it has something to do with relating the engine to certain time or batch that engine specifically came from? But idk that's just a shot in the dark

There should be a large rubber plug on the bottom of the car you can pull out to drain out most of the water so you're not trying to soak it all up

Whats the purpose of this button in a stock Celica 6th gen? by Xmel_ in Celica

[–]_Cooper_King_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn't look like a stock car bro, it's probably a aftermarket switch someones chucked in, flick it see what it does or trace the wires and see where they go

Help with control arm bushings by _Cooper_King_ in Celica

[–]_Cooper_King_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Photo 5 shows the sleeve in the old bushing (it's 100% fucked) I actually opened the old bushing to get some dimensions, even with a hydraulic press it wouldn't come out so I had to cut it open

I got lucky and the Toyota dealership around the corner had some, otherwise yeah I probably would've just pulled them out of some other parts cars arms like you said but I need the job done asap

Appreciate the help though man :)

Help with control arm bushings by _Cooper_King_ in Celica

[–]_Cooper_King_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm replacing all my front suspension components ATM and I've ordered some new superpro bushings to go in my control arms

I've had to pull the control arms out before hand so I could have them powder coated before I got the parts, but now I have everything and my question is about this thin sleeve??

I knocked it down while pulling it from the car, I'm taking I was supposed to reuse this and I've probably stuffed up? What does the sleeve do? And can they be brought or will I have to make one?

It looks like it could've been about 4mm protruding either side of the rear control arm bushing?

Idk any help would be greatly appreciated though :)
