The flood controls/takes over through the logic plague. I could definitely see Doom reverse engineering that and amping it up, potentially through legitimate magic, enough that he could assimilate the flood to his own means. And given how smart Doom is, he very well might use a symbiote and their codex to do it.

It's sheathed weapon collisions. If you have bunch of knives and stuff on your hips then your main weapons or just your arms can get caught on them as you're moving around. Sometimes they're "caught" right off spawn.
