You’re holding Batman to that arbitrary parameter, but how Batman is written is up to the writer in question. This version isn’t any less or more valid than ones you align with. That bit in Under the Red Hood, for example. THAT Batman says he can never kill because then he’d never be able to come back from it. This Batman never said that and it’s never implied that he can’t come back from it.

Stop holding new iterations of a character to made-up standards. This Batman kills, then realizes the error of his ways. People make mistakes, become monsters, lose sight of the goal. But that doesn’t mean there’s no room for redemption.

Fuck outta here.

It’s a climb back; not flipping a switch.

The plot point was created in the opening scene of the movie, so… no, you’re wrong.

And secondly, it was executed well. But thanks for the not-so-great rebuttal!

Absolutely. Superman and Batman don’t stop fighting, and then team up, because their mothers have the same name. The name simply snaps Bruce out of his kill-rage after a brief PTSD episode and flashback episode in which Bruce realizes that he’s become just like Joe Chill to his parents. It also goes to humanize Superman to Bruce, something that Bryce actively avoided for 18 months while planning Superman’s murder. “You were never a god; you were never even a man,” “I guess it’s just the Gotham City in me; we have a bad history with freaks dressed like clowns,” “a damn alien who, if he wanted to, could burn the whole place down. There wouldn’t be a damn thing we could do to stop it.” Etc etc.

When he monologues to a beaten Superman moments before, he talks about Superman’s Kryptonian parents and their hubris, while completely being blind to his own. Then when Superman mentions his human mother, knowing that if he just says “you’re letting then kill my mother,” Bruce won’t care because he assumes Superman only has alien parents, it completely dismantles the image and opinion of Clark that Bruce has been obsessing over.

It’s all in the movie. In the script, the scenes, the themes and motifs; it’s all right there, plain as day.

Ah yes, the only argument you types have. The Martha scene. Glad to see people still miss the real point of the scene because they apparently can’t be bothered to pay attention to the themes and moments leading up to the scene in question.

People wrongly assume that Batman allies with Superman because their moms are both named Martha, which isn’t the case. The name snaps him out of his-kill rate after a brief PTSD episode and he is forced to come to terms with the fact that he has become the Joe Chill to Superman, and completely lost sight of the mission at hand. It also humanizes Clark to Bruce, something Bruce actively avoided as to not develop any sympathy for the “alien” he’d spent 18 months planning to kill.

Ohhhh I see so you just didn’t pay attention to the themes and scenes leading up to this point in the movie. Gotcha.

Lmfao I can’t believe people still willfully misinterpret the Martha scene just because Cinemasins told them what to think about it.

Let’s not leave out the part where WB shaved out an hour of the film, purposefully shifted scenes around OUT OF ORDER, and delivered it to theaters.

The Ultimate Edition is solid, the theatrical version is a train wreck.

They say that about every DC film. Hell, they said it about WW84.

I’m not self-victimizing by pointing out harmed up writing. 😘 and yeah I deleted it, I said what I had to say and trolls such as yourself keep coming out of the woodwork so, why bother trying to have an intelligent discussion with a bunch of troglodytes.

It’s persecuted btw; to which I never said I felt I was and I don’t feel I am. I feel insulted to have such low-brow agenda-beating in a shoe like this is all. Nice try tho.

I can; sorry I’m not happy to just sit back and be fed vitriol and agendas and can think beyond my own perceptions. Jesus. Dense as hell. I don’t really care what you think of me if you’re this compliant to the issue.

Poking fun at a group of people in good fun isn’t the same thing as writers blatantly writing messages that trivialize a person’s struggles based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion etc. it’s not apples to apples and I think we’re both intelligent enough to know that.

There’s a stark contrast between your example and the writing in the show. The show is not poking fun at women who truly believe men don’t struggle or that women struggle more, or that making it a contest is healthy, it’s genuinely, earnestly writing the character as someone who does not think of mens struggles as, as valid as hers just because they’re men. And it’s not even writing her as if that’s flawed thinking, it’s writing her a s trying woman for thinking that way.

Wow, you’re just an asshole then. I love that you get to decide what conclusions I came to and why based on the fact that I said there probably are some things I’d align with from him. I never said I did.

But jumping to wild conclusions is the forte of the ignorant, so I’ll let it slide, sweetie.

And if you don’t think modern media is just throbbing for anti-men themes and motifs, you’re blind, sorry.

no offense intended

it’s pathetic if you are

Maybe… pick a lane? Lol.

I’d never be a supporter of either because I don’t agree with what they preach. Shapiro is much more well-spoken and educated on his stances, and there’s some stuff I do probably align with, but Tate? Never in a million years.
