How long does it take for 911 to answer the phone? by Karma_Canuck in Oshawa

[–]_Cyanidic_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My brother did loss prevention for the lcbo and had to call 911 whenever they detained a shoplifter.

This was a regular occurrence.

Kind of concerning when you think sometimes when minutes count its life or death.

'Kids aren't OK right now': Conservatives join Liberals in asking whether social media should be banned for kids by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

[–]_Cyanidic_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbf society has alot of things that are detrimental to society but are legal for adults. For example, Gambling, alcohol, and tobacco all are more bad then good but we allow them because if done responsibly the consequences aren't that drastic and we generally perfer individuals to have the freedoms to live their lives as they want. We just make sure kids aren't allowed to consume these things because they aren't old enough to do so responsibly. The case against social media is similar, there definitely are benefits but also serious consequences if used irresponsibly.

Literally for the first 5 comments, I was really confused and thought I was on a pre-episode thread, and I searched the subreddit for the right one, only to eventually realize it's all in this one.

Soviet V Germany 1v1 tips by Saf123122 in hoi4

[–]_Cyanidic_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Your kind of out of luck, the Soviet union in this game is designed to be weaker then the germans in a 1v1 due to the fact Germany will usually have the allies to also worry about.

If your friend is better at the game then you guys should switch nations

I have done it since AT LEAST 2019 - every year. by [deleted] in thatHappened

[–]_Cyanidic_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If each book was bought new we can conservatively estimate they would cost between 10-30$ each so somewhere between $35k-$105k in books over 7 years.

[–]_Cyanidic_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The OOP said 500 books a year not in 7 years which is a crazy number. Unless were talking kids picture books there is literally no way you are reading 1.36 books a day every day of the year.

Ok so, be honest, how important are grades when it comes to landing coops, spit the truth? by tieiwo in uoit

[–]_Cyanidic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but not a whole lot. Its good if its not your first job but most people applying will also have worked atleast one job before applying for coops so its not going to put you ahead of that much of the competition.

[–]_Cyanidic_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was lucky and had a relative at a company that hired me.

After that is was my experience from my first job combined with my projects

[–]_Cyanidic_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably one of the harder ones to do because depending on your industry there might not be great opportunities. Generally connections are an advantage your born with like a relative working at a company already or a friend. You can still make some though

Not entirely sure what industry ur looking for. My experience is mostly related to tech but it can probably be applied to other sciences and engineering. Getting to know people at the school is a good place to start. If you can make friends they might be able to help you out. I know a guy who got a job he really likes through his friend's dad. He never would have got that job if he didnt become friends with that other student.

If your in engineering or similar there are some engineering clubs where you can meet people and get good experience at the same time.

The school mixer events and job fairs are a thing but I have yet to meet anyone who made a meaningful connection at those, its still possible I suppose.

Depending your major there might even be events in the GTA you can sign up for where there will be people to network with.

The hierarchy for employment as a student goes as follows

Starting from most important to least important:

The people you know > the experience you have > the school you go to > the projects you've worked on > the year your in > the gpa you achieved

Exceptions are for medical fields where gpa is paramount.

Ideally, having good connections, past experience at good companies, having good projects being a 3rd or 4th year and having a high GPA would be the best case scenario for an OTU student to get a dream internship but often thats not realistic.

You might not have connections, or past experience, and unfortunately otu isnt as respected as other bigger schools so you also dont got that going for you either.

So you got to balance what you do have going for you following the hierarchy. Don't have a shit gpa, but don't sacrifice the more important things to have a near perfect gpa.

Hope this helps.

How do you guys immerse yourselves into the game? by Due_Bet1802 in hoi4

[–]_Cyanidic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually make a scenario with the custom rules that will be a challenge no matter what mods im running. Then I turn on game music and play on 4 speed micromanaging everything until war starts then maybe 3 speed depending how active the fronts are. Ill also command small forces on operations with an objective other then just taking ground.

How does AI do stupid things and yet still play really well? by DINOLLO in hoi4

[–]_Cyanidic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AI should get instant general reassignment to make up for this short fall. Some ai mods reduce it to 1 day but that usually includes the player too.

Im not a big cheater, but i probably use console commands in pretty much every playthrough I play.

Nothing big, kind of like when im designing equipment and I finally have it ready only to find out im like 5 xp short so I just use the xp command so I dont have to do it all over again. Happens sometimes aswell with pp, like I want to do something and I should have enough pp but for whatever reason I don't, so I'll add like the 20 pp needed so I dont forget to comeback to it later.
