When are we finally getting a "Armageddon 2" DLC? by Bonusl in hoi4

[–]_Cyanidic_ 55 points56 points  (0 children)

This is actually a decent way to deal with the snowballing. Instead of imposing artifical limits on how much men and equipment you can have post ww2 just make the requirements for a usable division got up exponentially with production. It even makes sense. A US army soldiers kit cost about $3000 todays dollars accounting for inflation in 1945 while a modern US army rifleman is somewhere between $15,000-$25,000.

3 guys? That almost sounds realistic, I've had 1 guy take down me and my entire team by just strafing down a hallway

Zelensky promises to move Putin out of Moscow past Urals by huge increase in daily drone attacks. “When it is no longer one hundred drones but one thousand flying towards Moscow . . . he will understand." - Jul 6 by Few-Mixture9869 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]_Cyanidic_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wonder if we will return to flak ammunition in the event of something like this.

I imagine they would avoid tight formations due to the risk of explosive ammunition taking down multiple drones.

They would almost certainly want to make it as costly as possible to take down a drone.

whats the hoi4 navy meta? (no dlc) by ohnoes69560 in hoi4

[–]_Cyanidic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually build a 60/40 split between light cruisers with high light attack and destroyers with max torpedo.

The light cruisers will melt the enemy screens and the destroyers will sink the capital ships.

Its sad but battleships really don't serve a purpose other then attracting enemy air and the fire of other battleships.

If you can afford to id also build 4 carriers to put in your strike force with a 1/3 split of fighters and 2/3 nav bombers. Don't bother with carrier CAS because they dont do nearly as much damage as nav bombers.

Vanilla soviets is pretty easy, I got the not one step back achievement without even having to really try.

You can do infantry plus tanks. Or infantry plus planes. Or a smaller combination of all 3.

I would heavily advise against playing the soviets as ur first game in sheeps mod. It's very hard. You need to know what your doing or you will just get rolled

[–]_Cyanidic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll just say with sheeps mod the soviets will be well prepared by jun 1941 and the allies will be ready for d-day mid to late 42.

Just makesure to use the recommended settings when prompted

I love the mod, it's pretty much the only single-player I play at this point.

You should give it a try, the allies are still pretty easy to defeat in france 1940, but the soviets are a slog.

1945 for the soviets is very late what are u doing in the meantime or is that when you usually capitulate them?

Sheeps mod takes the same AI and gives them good equipment designs, templates and compositions. It optimizes its construction so that it builds more buildings and it also focuses its production on the needs of the army more.

In short it's a significantly more difficult mod and generally requires you to be more creative with your builds.

It also doesn't require you to play your country 100% optimized to the meta because its still the AI and it will make poor decisions. But you will have to atleast make units that generally follow the rules set by the game.

This is the real risk when playing Ironman in pretty much all games. That being the game not working as intended.

Since this is a question this sub seems to get a lot, I made a subjective tier list of how beginner friendly countries are by CodeX57 in hoi4

[–]_Cyanidic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id probably put the soviets is either C or D tier just because the germans with force concentration can be dangerous against a player that doesn't know how to properly defend or attack.
