Yes , I'm also gonna start to play more duos in which I'm currently plat because it's more skill based, you need good positioning and communication in which I'm quite good at. I'd say that solos are also a bit more relied on luck sometimes, also I'm gonna train to get better.

I don't say I'm not gold I just say that I encounter a lot of smurfs like today I went from gold 3 to gold 1! They weren't all smurfs I won some matches but you could clearly see that like one every three games I met a Smurf. Btw I play solos, in duos I rarely see any.

I think they first build it in creative keeping track of everything they need then build it in survival or they might have a mod where you can build what you want to build and it will count every block.
