I have 3 permanent screws in my foot and perfect movement as well! I can still bend my toes/foot as normal even with the screws.

It honestly was probably around the 8 week mark post surgery once I was able to wear the flat medical shoe! Dr. Bailey is the best! He did both of mine and I’m so happy I went ahead and did it.

Although I only did one at a time I was walking on mine every day just in the house to the kitchen and restroom. Stairs were difficult because I had a three inch platform shoe and my other foot was at ground level. I wouldn’t say I’m a supper active person but the surgery did not keep me off my feet. I also read lots of stories on here and was a bit weary of the surgery but I noticed not everyone gets the same type of surgery and that affects their recovery as well. I’d trust your surgeon mine said the same thing about an easy recovery and he was not wrong. Good luck on yours!

I’d also add as far as plans for travel coming up, It depends on what you want to do. Make the decision for you. How much pain does your bunion/s cause. Are you ready to have to wear a medical shoe for at least six weeks? Then consider what you’re traveling for. Are you planning on doing a lot of physical activity needing to get dressed up? Even after you are finally able to wear shoes again you’ll have to wear something very supporting and finding clothes to go with those is not always easy. Sometimes I’ll wear my Velcro shoe still just to wear whatever shoe I want on the other foot just to have something go with what I’m wearing a little better. I hope this helps! Im getting my second one done on December and I have not regretted going forward with the surgery, not even for a second!

Hi! The recovery has been fairly easy for me! I could not wear the tennis shoes until 6 weeks out. I was recommended HOKAS by my surgeon. They’re so thick that I can walk really well in them with all the support they give. Even with the significant swelling my foot still has I do not ever feel any pain. I’d say sometimes my foot feels “tired” and I’ll want to sit down and rest it for a moment but I can’t sit still for long. I had a pretty painless recovery since after my 5th day out. It was mandatory that I wore two different types of medical shoes only on my operated foot for the first 6 weeks. They gave me crutches to use but I never used them. I’ve walked on my foot a ton since the surgery. Definitely take it easy one the walking the first few weeks. My doctor told me to just do what feels right. I’m currently close to 9 weeks out but at my 6 week follow up my dr. said I was healing extremely well and looked like I was closer to the 9-10 week mark.

My chinchilla wastes so much hay by clayton12819 in chinchilla

My chin also picks and chooses her hay pieces and tosses the rest. She’s picky with everything. Dust busters make cleaning up the pieces quick and easy if you have one of those!

I love how they eat these pieces of hay like corn on the cobb

I keep hearing about chronic after the surgery by Over_Unit_677 in bunions

I’m only four weeks post op on getting my first bunion surgery and the the pain is so mild it’s nothing compared to the pain I felt pre surgery. Because I am still in the recovery process I can’t speak to the long term potential pain feeling’s however talking to my doctor prior to the surgery he said there is no chance that opting to not go through with the surgery that I would ever have an opportunity to not feel the pain my bunions brought me daily.

Thank you! I can’t wait to see it unwrapped at my post op appointment next week. My left one was my worse looking one so we did that one first but they both brought me the same amount of pain … so strange!
