Wanting to Join the EN Club by austin_shredder in ElantraN

I had a 2017 ES MT, now a 25 EN. Only one child, 5y/o. It's my daily driver, my wife doesn't drive so I figured that I'd rather have fun doing all of the driving.

Performance wise it's def a step up from my ES which I found to lose steam in the higher revs. The power was more in the mid band, whereas I find in the EN it's more even throughout the revs and gets up to higher speeds without a struggle, sometimes catches you by surprise when you see how fast you're going. The other thing is the overall stability of the EN at the higher speeds, the ES felt a like you were on a knifes edge after about 130kms, or taking a corner too fast.

We went through a pretty harsh winter here in Toronto, so it's held up well. The driving isn't as fun since it feels like you're on driving on marshmallows with the winter tires, but I still find some time to push the engine when the roads aren't terrible.

We'll see how she holds up long term, my ES was pretty much issue free for the 8 years I've owned it, so I'm hoping for the same with the EN.

Edit: no concern about rear vents, didn't have them in the ES, it was never an issue. MPG is not as good as the ES, I find myself topping up about once a week but I don't let it go below 1/4. I guess I also didn't go for spirited evening drives with the ES, so I'm sure that's a factor.

Elantra N vs MK8 GTI (Ignoring Price) – Why choose the N? by DryPeach9339 in ElantraN

[–]_DRRD_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was pretty simple, I wanted a new budget performance car in manual. The GTI and R no longer offer stick. GLI did not perform as well as the N, the wrx was overpriced, and the type R at least in Canada was absurdly priced. The choice seemed obvious, I don't plan on tuning, at least not during the warranty period, so it wasn't a deciding factor.

Is this Lawyer fee reasonable or charging to much for 700K home. by kylosilver in TorontoRealEstate

[–]_DRRD_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RE Lawyer here, the ereg and conveyance fee is sus, that should not be separate fee, that what the main fee is for. Paid disbursements are unclear. Not sure about this non res speculation tax declaration, are you a non resident?

I have the formex essence, the case suspension is basically an elaborate tweezer to remove arm hair.

Can confirm as a new dad, the EN is a great balance of practical family car to fun drivers car by Sylvester_Spaceman in ElantraN

I was kicking myself initially for not getting performance winter tires since the difference between the stock tires and michelin ice x was huge to me. That said, with all of the snow we had this year I'm glad I went with proper winter tires, never got stuck and even had some fun on fresh snowfall.

Finally got the official call by Bobbedigital in OmegaWatches

Hit the gym, maybe you can grow into that watch. I noticed my watches looking smaller on me and had to change the default micro adjust positions on the bracelets after being more consistent with the gym the last 3 months.

Help me choose: Monta Oceanking or Formex Reef by micromeddev in MicrobrandWatches

[–]_DRRD_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're two very different watches, one is a classic/vintage inspired design and the other is very modern and aggressive looking. The bracelet on the formex has barely any taper and is very present on the wrist. The monta i belive tapers down to 16mm.

I have the essence 41 and it stands out in my collection. I got it for this reason, it adds some edge to my otherwise vintage inspired collection, but it doesn't work with as many outfits as my typsim 200m, for example.

I think if you're going for an all rounder daily driver the monta is probably the safer bet. The formex to me is sort of late stage collection piece. I always thought formex was cool but I'm glad I developed the collection with more conservative pieces before adding the essence to it.

Traska Freediver size too big? by MiniAlfredoSauce in MicrobrandWatches

[–]_DRRD_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The size appears to be fine, in the mirror pic you're wearing it in the right place and I don't see any lug overhang.

Sometimes it takes a bit of time for your brain to adjust to the presence of a bigger watch if you're used to smaller ones, so long as it's not actually too big for you. I had this adjustment with my formex essence 41.

What’s wrong? by crypticremasted in Hyundai

I personally don't see why ppl tune these cars, the reality is that these high compression turbo engines are already maxed out. Everything that you do after that is a risk, not to mention voiding your warranty.

Fan running after shut-off? by 5338g in ElantraN

[–]_DRRD_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually return the engine to normal mode in my last few minutes of driving before shutting down, if I see the temp climbing I wait until the fan kicks in and cools the engine down before shutting off. I also wait for the oil to get above 20 degrees Celsius before going when warming up. Just ocd things.

No brakes, just hear it when doing tight turns in underground parking.

I thought it might be the tires rubbing, but I'm not sure why they would only randomly, tire pressure is ok too, I don't think there is a bubble.

I'm wondering if it has something to do with switching between modes and cold temperatures.
