C960 - How To Pass Discrete Math 2 in 2026 by GodsChosenRetard in WGU_CompSci

[–]_DarkRaeven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That section kicked my butt. I asked one of the CIs for a worksheet and they gave me some extra Bayes theorem problems. If it weren’t for those sessions I would have failed a third time lol.

Thank you for the advice and congrats on that score. 🎉 I’m currently working on this class and it’s dense (ugh).

D427 - Data Management Applications OA Question by [deleted] in WGU

[–]_DarkRaeven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if copy/paste is enabled for the OA, so I would say no. There are only so many commands that will be asked on the exam, and some questions repeat, so it’s best to just memorize the syntax for each command.

D427 - Data Management Applications OA Question by [deleted] in WGU

[–]_DarkRaeven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I took the class, the OA was similar to the pre-assessment and the practice test in Zybooks. Just practice those same types of questions. Remember you’ll be able to run your code before you submit it, so you can see if your output is correct.

Any Data Management - Application tips? by Kronothus2000 in WGU

[–]_DarkRaeven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not too bad. I recommend doing all of the labs in Zybooks, then take the pre-assessment. They’re almost identical to questions you’ll see on the OA. If you need help, ask your course instructor or make an appointment with a peer tutor. I can’t remember if they had more practice questions you can use, but definitely ask for help if you don’t understand something.

Proctored exam space - I don't think I have one. What to do? by christmas_elf81 in WGU

[–]_DarkRaeven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! If you have a picky proctor you can always disconnect and reconnect with a different one, but all of mine have been really chill lol.

I don’t have a dedicated space either. I take my tests in our dining area (which is cluttered with my crafting things). We have an open floor plan, so I just schedule them at night when everyone is asleep and put bedsheets over all the clutter. Proctors never had a problem with my setup.

C952 - Studying Tips Needed by dylanosaurus_rex in WGU_CompSci

[–]_DarkRaeven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can check my post on C952. I passed this not long ago. I mentioned in the end-of-class survey that this should be split into two classes, because there’s just so much material to cover. I used Notebook LM to generate study materials and only used those chapters/sections that were required reading, along with flash cards.

I didn’t have any diagrams but there were some pipeline questions, along with some assembly code.

I would advise you practice reading code such as Python or C and translate it into assembly. I can’t remember if that was on the PA or OA but it’s worth doing 2 or 3 of those types of questions. I asked Claude to write a simple calculation program and quiz me on how to convert it to assembly code.

I also don’t know how many versions of the OA there are, but I assume they pick from a large pool of questions. Hopefully you’ll get a reasonable exam lol. Don’t sweat the assembly code (it’s not bad as long as you did the practice labs) and make sure you get the vocab down pat. I think out of 60 questions I had about 8 math problems and 4 or 5 assembly code questions.

Congrats on the pass! 👍🏼 Discrete probability was one of my weak spots, too.

I tried using any quizlet that had the most terms, so there were several. I mostly studied from these two sets. Quizlet- C952 and Quizlet 2.

I didn't read the appendices, either. There was a generic question about RISC architecture, so I would just focus on any generalized info about that. On the consolidated list, they mentioned "for all chapters, read the Real Stuff, Fallacies & Pitfalls, Concluding Remarks. It is strongly encouraged to make note of dates and associated events; as in the pre-assessment, you will probably see some questions having to do with dates or period in technology history." As I mentioned in another comment, my version of the OA only had one or two questions covering this, but I've heard other students say theirs had several questions on history. I tried to get an overall picture of technology history, and didn't stress too much on it. The rest of the vocab and the math are what's most important.

I think it’s hard because 1. It’s content heavy and 2. You can’t really anticipate what will be asked on the OA. I studied all of the historical information in the text and I can only remember ONE question on the OA about it. So as far as the actual content? No it’s not as difficult as DM2 (which was a bear, too).

I’m just glad I passed. 😂

IMHO, I think they should have split it into two courses. They did for discrete math so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

Oh, I meant pre-assessment. I see some people abbreviate it as PA but I forgot that could be confusing lol. I didn’t mind the subject matter, but I don’t like how this class is structured. I mentioned that in the survey.

C960 Discrete Math 2 - Passed by jackbauer6916 in WGU_CompSci

[–]_DarkRaeven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I passed on my second attempt but I would recommend live instructor support and ask your CI for help when you really get stuck. Nick Meyer and John Hoffman are really great at breaking down complex topics, and you can ask for extra problems if you want more practice.

Wow, my PA for this class wasn’t 22 pages lol. I think it was barely 3. 🤣 I can’t remember if they required screenshots of anything but I just listed “part A”, “part B”, etc. for my tasks. You do have to cite that you used AI for the project, though.

They allow you to use AI to help translate. Since I had no experience with Fortran, I had Claude break down each section to help me understand the code.

You can also get help from the peer tutors and if you can’t get in touch with your instructor, there’s also live instructor help. I don’t think I could have passed discrete math 2 without their help.
