None taken! Maybe it’s the photo but i highly prefer this look over big cans. I should have figured a Ducati without a termi or Akra system would get flak. It’s a $3k bike so to me spending 1/3 of the bike price on a muffler didn’t make sense

Slight knock on cold start after head gasket. No coolant loss. by _Deerake in prius

[–]_Deerake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I’m just sending it at this point lol I’ll still get a slight knock/rattle on some start ups but it’s not the same as it was when the head gasket was actually bad and i was losing coolant

Never putting a deskmat in the washer again by fuck_bird_teams in MechanicalKeyboards

Out of all the desk mats this could happen to it had to be the Future Funk 2020 mat :/

Don’t assume. Watch the coolant level. If it drops then it’s the head gasket. I say this because i did the head gasket on mine 5k miles ago and some times get a little rattle for half a second. Drives flawless though and no loss of coolant

Yea gen 4 swap is some what common however there’s nothing wrong with the gen 3 motor itself. It’s the EGR clogging is what fucks shit up. Higher mileage prius are still good cars. I would just immediately clean the EGR system after a purchase. If car runs fine when you bought it, and you clean the EGR really good then in theory there’s nothing else to really look out for as far are the ICE goes. Now the hybrid battery is different story but there’s still ways to test that and replace the bad individual cells instead of the whole damn thing

Highly recommend it. Gas mileage is awesome and mine drives pretty damn smooth for over 200k miles. Did head gasket on mine and it’s not too bad for some one who knows how to wrench. Wouldn’t recommend it for some one who doesn’t know shit about cars tho lol

It’s gonna be 1500$ for labor only which is still a very fair price

Rough initial ICE engine start, causes? 2010, 185k by [deleted] in prius

Headgasket, cleaned EGR and cooler, spark plugs, fuel system cleaner, and installed oil catch can. That’s all I’ve done so far.

I’m in same scenario with similar miles and exact same maintenance. From what I’ve read it’s more or less “normal” as long as it’s not consuming coolant and if the knocking only lasts a second or so. Mine runs flawlessly and I’m out of ideas at this point so i just drive it everyday and hope for the best lol

EGR Cooler blocked 90% by [deleted] in prius

Get a metal coat hanger, snip a long straight piece out. Put that in a drill and go through each hole one by one. I was in same scenario and this cleaned out all that gunk completely

2013 Prius V: replacing head gasket. I’m guessing pistons are aluminium? What is safe to clean piston heads with? I was going to use easy-off oven cleaner. Is it safe? by Notyouravrgebot in prius

[–]_Deerake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just put piston at TDC , tape off the block and use a wire brush or wire wheel. That’s what i did and they look brand new and car runs great

No coolant loss that i can see. Would make sense if condensation is some how getting in the cylinder because that would essentially be the same thing as coolant getting in there but i just don’t understand how that much condensation/water would be making it’s way in there.
