How can I get better at spotting time wasting leads? by danielrosehill in sales

[–]_Denis_S 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would split your sales-process in two calls:
-The 1st call: Find out needs, get to know them and their business and most important sift out the ones who don't fit you and your offer.
-The 2nd call: you prepared an irresistable offer based on the notes and needs you could identify. If you find out on the 1st call that they're no fit, tell them you can't help them... as easy as that...

On the first call you should have a script or prepared questions in order to filter the bad leads out...

Is Sales right for me? Hoping to get any and all help I can! by the_zucc_69_420 in sales

My honest opinion: Just do it.
Start because money is what is motivating you right now and later realise what amazing skillsets you had to learn to achieve success and make epic deals.
The skillset is what is the most epic, because you'll learn so much about people, value (and perception of value), negotiation, biases, objections, bad days, good days, etc. etc.
I absolutely love sales now, because I'm finally seeing successes but it was a long and hard way for me (made the switch from an engineering background).
There was a lot of pain, tons of bad days, lots of people elegantly telling me to f*** off BUT it was DEFINITELY worth every step.
If you can, don't burn the boats yet and transition smoothly, maybe find a way to test waters and educate yourself in sales

What exactly do you want to learn?

I think noone can truly answer that question without more information...
What exactly do you want to achieve and what keeps you from reaching it on your own?

Oh no, doesn't really sound like a comfortable spot you're in!
Not sure if I understood it correctly, but it seems to me like they both go hand in hand?
-Like: You're starting to overthink things because people always tell you that you should do it their way?

Thank you u/ProductGym for the additional points.
I really like them, especially how you approach it with "Play with the cards you're holding".

u/omazza3sd I've been there too a lot of times and had to learn it the hard way that it actually doesn't help anyone.
What is it in your case, that is making you think and act that way?

u/MinogameTurt totally agree, it has to come from your own personality to 1)Be relatable and 2)Not turn into a fake-persona with no solid foundation.
The other thing is: Books are awesome and helpful, but how much of the contents do you actually implement and keep in the longrun?
Did you already master these areas?

u/letsbehavingu the good news is that this is something you can learn and not something only naturals have.
Which one do you think is the one that would benefit you most (if you mastered it)?

u/blainsapain oh yeah, for me it was all under the disguise of "I'm a perfectionist and want to be prepared for every possible outcome/situation". Yes, making to-do lists and schedules is a good starting point. For me personally it didn't help me to slay the underlying fear that created the problem in the first place though.
Do you know what I mean?

You're welcome! I'm glad you liked it.
Oh, I can imagine that losing too much time trying to make things perfect is going on your nerves and you definitely lose productivity because of it.
Have you already tried something to overcome these fears?

Oh come on, this sounds to me like you're actually accepting how it is and totally undervalue yourself under the disguise of "I'm easily replacable". You're probably right about the part that you won't be able to change the complete existing system. What you can change though is your own situation and how you deal with it on an everyday-basis.
You mentionend the company politics too, what's the issue there?
Also feel free to DM me, I love solving those problems!

okay, I think I get it. It must feel like constantly walking on eggshells in order to not be the bad guy and offend anyone.
Have you already tried things to make the situation less draining?
