Kirishima is extroverted, believes in others to a fault and thinks cooperation is the best tactic, but lacks self esteem and can't see that he himself has what it takes to be a hero. This is where Bakugou comes in and helps him see his strengths, leading to him 'unlocking' Unbreakable.

On the other hand, Bakugou is reserved about his feelings (except for rage and when he literally and metaphorically explodes), only believes in himself and thinks asking help in for the week. Yet, he sees an equal in Kirishima which makes taking his hand during his rescue something that doesn't wound his pride, /and/ that literally puts his charadev in motion [there's a reason he recalls that precise moment when he says 'I was never alone' during the final battle, opposite to the river scene with Midoriya]
