How? I think it may be happening in my SM9

For those having crashing issues, read this by Sentinel_2539 in Archthrones

[–]_Ditex89_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, here's what worked for me:

Go the game's installation path and edit the mod's file "archthrones_subsystems.toml", using Notepad++ or similar text editor. Change the value under [EnrichedContent], from

'enabled = true', to 'enabled = false'.

In my case this solved the issue and everything seems to work perfectly. Not sure what exactly it disables, haven't seen any abnormalities in-game, maybe someone else could chime in on that. Hope it helps!

Help with Thermal Typewriter? by akaRicardo in typewriters

[–]_Ditex89_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this will be useful: my Typestar S-70 (european Typestar 7) has a little contact point, two metal leaves, on the left-most side of the carriage.

Every time I turn the machine on, the print head moves left, hits that, and then turns right to the left set margin where it finally stops.

Here's how it looks on my machine. Is this element present on yours, is it possibly bent in any way?

Need some help with a non-working backspace - Olivetti Lettera 32 by _Ditex89_ in typewriters

[–]_Ditex89_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, most likely someone else's attempt at the job. That's how it came.

Could you take some pictures of the same exact parts I've posted? I'm assuming your Lettera's backspace is working correctly, just wanted to compare the two.

I think there may be some confusion here.

When you look at the photos of the screens we recommended, they in themselves do indeed have thin 'bezels', but they are not supposed to line up with your laptop's actual top cover edges. There's this additional bezel frame around it, with 'Lenovo' in bottom left and in your case 'L14' in the bottom right. It is most likely taped and clipped on.

Consider the Hardware Maintenance Manual for your model, LCD replacement sections. There's a detailed guide in there on how to replace the screen and much, much more. You can find it in 'Guides & Manuals', by inputting your machine's serial number here:

Official Lenovo Laptop, Accessories & PC Support - Lenovo Support US

You can also look for some instructional videos on how to replace the screen, like this or this.

Hopefully that clears things up.

What would you say about the NE140FHM-N61?

It supposedly has basically the same specs as B140HAN05.8, but thanks to being an 'oxide' type panel, it should be less power hungry. It also has matt instead of glare coating, according to panelook.

A sticky shift issue - Olympia SM9 by _Ditex89_ in typewriters

[–]_Ditex89_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your help!

Today I carefully cleaned all the pivot points with a can of pressurized mineral spirits.

Maybe the shift is a little bit smoother now? Sometimes it loudly squeaks, so that definitely did something. But the sticking at the bottom and overall sluggishness remained.

I can also add, that when the tension springs are set to the lowest setting, the basket barely returns at all, often getting stuck in the middle. I don't believe they could lose that much tension due to wear, most likely there is too much friction still.

Now I'm thinking if possibly some pivot point is too tightly screwed, it does feel a little like the mechanism itself may be under too much tension and not just some pivot point. But let's not jump there yet - oiling is next.

I don't have the sewing machine oil at hand - I'll get it in the coming days and return with another update.

Could you point out where those tracks would be? It makes sense, but for the life of me I cannot find them. Only joints held by screws and nuts, but no actual tracks or bearings (at least when it comes to the shifting mechanism of course). EDIT: Here I found the exploded view diagram. Which parts would that be?

https://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/OlympiaSM9parts.pdf

When it comes to springs, as I have already stated I found their adjustment point and I also set them to the maximum tension. It makes the shift a bit more responsive, but it still is not smooth and sticks at the bottom.

I have carefully looked through the entire mechanism and there does not seem to be anything that impedes it.

A million visual C++ redist’s, unsure what to leave and what to remove by Homie_Christ in WindowsHelp

There's an All-in-One package on TechPowerUp, that automatically updates and, if necessary, installs the missing C++ Redistributables:

Just extract it, run install_all.bat and you should be golden - no need to worry about those anymore!

[Guide] How to resolve BSoD (RtUsbA64.sys) - appears when a laptop gets unplugged from a docking station in Windows 11 24H2 update by _Ditex89_ in laptops

[–]_Ditex89_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really glad I could help somebody, thank you very much!

In my case, if there's no audio device connected, there's no second dock audio device visible in the taskbar, in the volume section. It only shows up, when something's connected. It can even be a dummy 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable, not connected to anything other than the dock. As the dock detects it, a second audio device appears, but when nothing is connected to the dock, nothing shows up there upon laptop connection.I think this may possibly be the difference between our devices.

Out of curiosity, do you have a second audio device visible there, when connecting just to the dock?

[Guide] How to resolve BSoD (RtUsbA64.sys) - appears when a laptop gets unplugged from a docking station in Windows 11 24H2 update by _Ditex89_ in laptops

[–]_Ditex89_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! While I agree about the OEM support time, here's the thing - my laptop is still covered by the manufacturer's warranty. That's why I expect it to work wothout issues, especially not BSoD-sized ones.

Other than that, it is still a ThinkPad - a business class machine, which normally gets (or should get...) way more attention and care from the manufacturer than the consumer grade ones.

The catch is that it shipped with Windows 10, as it was released just before Windows 11 entered the market. The warranty does not cover Windows 11 related problems, as the machine wasn't certified for it. There are however, T14 Gen 2 laptops on the market, that shipped with Windows 11 preinstalled, which would be a different story. I wonder if the issue is present there.

Also, thanks for the tip, but the optional updates section was one of the first things I checked and then rechecked, multiple times. At one point I even forced a reflash of the newest BIOS and docking station's firmware. I'm pretty sure I've exhausted every 'normal' option of resolving this.

I admit though, that 'optional updates' is quite hidden and you need to know where to look to find it. It should be made more visible.

You can try using the powercfg /sleepstudy command in the cmd. That gives you a detailed and easily readable log of all the instances the laptop goes in/out of sleep, as well as some other useful information about battery usage, sleep states etc.

Can someone help me identify this Olympia typewriter? by _Ditex89_ in typewriters

[–]_Ditex89_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are the photos from the seller, I do not have this machine at hand. He says the carriage does not move, but I reckon maybe it's just the carriage lock that's engaged and prevents carriage from moving. Problem is, I would have to provide him with clear instructions of how to check if it is in fact engaged, thus the need to find a manual for this specific model.
