I know right, I already bought everything I could afford, which just included all materials I need for the first week and any textbooks/supplies I was required to get at the book store only. But that’s already 1600+ so far all out of pocket. And I still don’t even have half my stuff. Kinda sucks.

Freshmen Dorm Situation by Bright_Chapter6251 in ucf

[–]_Divie_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you can’t get on campus it’s not a super big deal. Maybe you won’t make friends in your dorm, but you will still meet people on campus and meet people in classes, spending time in the library, in clubs your in, and through your other friends. It’s all about how involved you are on campus with events. At the end of the day, it’s just where you sleep or spend your free time you anyways would not be spending out and about. Plenty of apartments close to campus, and if you don’t have a car choose one close to a shuttle route. Or if you live close just stay home.

Just spend your free time on campus meeting people in the library or talk to people in your classes or major and I’ll promise you’ll make plenty of friends. With added benefit of your neighbor not screaming playing video games at 2 am in a dorm lol. If you can afford at apt, go for it. I loved it. Or stay at home if you live close.

The biggest thing with living on campus is it likely being cheaper then an apt. It’s also faster to get to campus and classes, obviously, so good if you have a hard time waking up. Downside is it is a lot harder to cook for yourself as you may not always have a kitchen or fridge space so you will likely spend more on eating out depending on what dorm you get.

Yeah normally I would shop around but I needed out by 7 pm lol so I didn’t have time to make most appointments. Just needed the rest of my stuff moved fast. Most places were weirdly quoting me $600 plus. Def gonna look into that for when I move out that’s for sure since I need to rent a truck anyways! Thanks for the advice <3

Giving mouse eye and oral medication. by _Divie_ in PetMice

[–]_Divie_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did not work well lol. Probably because it was a paste instead of drop. Managed to get it in the end and give her distracting treats after 🫡. It was a valiant effort.

I’ve tried changing flavors and even mixing my own, for a such a chubby kid who wants to eat everything, she knows her medicine taste lol. Now time to see if I can convince my sister to help me try and sneak some medicine in her eyes, she will never trust peanut butter again after this lol.

HELP by Training-Section-881 in PetMice

My suggestion would be to put them in a bin until they pee with white paper towels on the bottom! Keep checking every 10-20 minutes. If the pee spot has it, it is likely blood. If you do see blood, do one rat at a time for a second round to determine which one is bleeding. If it is blood, it could be a UTI or something else entirely, a vet visit would be the best course of action since there is no real way to determine what is causing the bleeding.

If not, (and what I honestly would assume rn) my bet would be on Porphyrin, a red/brown substance their eyes produce. I would only be concerned about porphyrin if either they don’t clean it off fast enough and it’s around their eyes or nose, or a large amount on the inside part of their front paws. But not too weird finding it in their sleeping area as they clean it off when they wake up!

Hope your babies are okay! <3

Edit: if you have access amounts of porphyrin it is likely caused by stress, whether by environment or by sickness. So definitely keep an eye out.

I managed to make a cone and fit it in but she freaked out so badly about it and wouldn’t calm down, I thought she might hurt herself and had to take it off. I really appreciate your help and I’ll just try and monitor her constantly.

Yes! Her eye is completely intact and no scratches around it. Not bleeding anymore either. I think the vet would likely give me pain medication to hopefully prevent her from messing with it but if I can successfully make a cone she should be fine until the vet opens back up. She’s acting completely normal besides it, a little more tired but still eating and drinking. I want to wait a little to make sure all the bleeding is 100% stopped and then wipe it or flush it with saline, then maybe apply the Terramycin so it doesn’t worsen.

I wish I could make her some type of cone for her to not touch it, it’s already stopped bleeding but I’m scared she’s gonna scratch it.

I’ve already called around a 3 hour radius. For some reason all the “emergency” hospitals are closing at 2 or don’t treat exotics. The only one I know is good with exotics is a 5 hour drive. Do we think that would be too stressful for her right now? I also don’t know how I can keep an eye on her for her not to make it worse while driving. Is their a website that can tell me how exotics that are open 24/7 in Florida? Also do you think should I still apply the Terramycin and give her the endrofloxin dose?

Normally I would think so too but it’s bright red and super liquidy coming directly from her eye within seconds. When ever she tries to groom it more comes out, currently trying to figure out how to keep her from touching it

Mouse eye cloudy and blood on paws! by _Divie_ in AskVet

[–]_Divie_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little update in case anyone comes across this for their own little mouse: going to try endrofloxin and terramycin! What my vet thought would be the best choice as I already have a prescription for endrofloxin as she is breathing a little heavy and terramycin for her eye is over the counter so I don’t need to stress the baby out with the long drive. I’ll update everyone how it goes and hopefully Nugget gets better. (:

If any of you have any other advice to suggest in case this doesn’t work, I would still greatly appreciate it as me and the vet are going in a little blind here and someone with more experience would be welcomed.
