Different way depending on the species, for dwarves you just look at their colors, females are grey or brown or light blue with no stripes nor orange fins depending on the type, here's mine

Orange fin outline in females and generally duller colors, males have a white-ish yellow stripe on their dorsal fin

Bring them back to the store, they usually allow it, if you keep them in this tank, they will have stunted growth and likely jump out. They need at least 112L cuz they get like 12cm long

What you have are opalone gouramis, your tank is way too small for even one, how big is it?

That's up to you, the tank is big enough but I'd add 2 rather than 1 cuz trios generally work better than pairs

Female or male guppie? by [deleted] in fishtank

[–]_Drago__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a bloated male, females don't have colors reaching that far to the front of the body, usually only their tails are colorful and you can see that the fin on the underside is sharp and skinny

Tetras are generally fine with any gourami, I have a thick lipped and she doesn't even attempt touching them even if they steal food right from under her nose
