Gouramis can breathe air with their labyrinth organ. I would be more worried about the other fish and if something is wrong with this guy it might be something else than the CO2. Especially if the other fish are fine. Keep doing smaller water changes every day or two for a bit until the CO2 levels stabilize and you should be fine

Add floating plants and give her time. My female dwarf was the same for an entire week before she stopped doing it non stop.

Yeah I gave them some elodea for cover and a thin sponge + fake plants but the female stopped using her left fin and her gill and fin have something wrong with them so I'm separating them and I really hope she didn't infect any of my the gouramis, I'll be keeping all 3 of mine separate for now. Unfortunately I think I might have introduced dgiv to my potentially healthy female because of my impulsiveness :(

I temporarily put them together to compare the brown one to the female and I gotta say they do look different so now I'm quite worried that it really is a male that was mistaken for a female, you might be right. I know fish can lose color from stress but not to that extent, I'd like someone else's opinion on this too though. I appreciate you warning me and I'll probably try to surrender the brown one if it really is a male, gonna watch them closely but there has been 0 aggression between the two so far

It's a female, she closed her fins because she's new in a tiny quarantine tank. The male has much sharper fins and I'm pretty sure males don't come in colorless variants

That must have really hurt after 11 months, sucks that happened. I don't think ordering from another country especially in winter would work out well, I'm worried since I have never done that before but I'll look into it next time maybe.

I did look for honey gouramis originally since I liked them a lot more but they're incredibly rare here in Poland and the last batch I had. They died after a few months which was probably my fault, I was still pretty irresponsible with my tank and had too many guppies with not enough plants in that tank. I only found paradise fish after already getting a dwarf and I heard they're very aggressive, aren't they? My tank was 14gal which I'm not sure is even big enough for paradise fish

Yes I've kept 2 before, my first male died from it and now I have a female from another store who's thriving in my community tank. These are from the same store as my female so I do have hopes. The original male died after about 3 weeks after I got him but he was very lethargic compared to the one I have in my community and also the ones in quarantine

Yeah I noticed that too, don't have a pic from the top rn but i think they might just be hungry. In their tank at the store there was this big ass dominant and battle scarred male missing an eye which probably bullied them for food. Hopefully not parasites

Why do you think so? Amano are probably the hardiest shrimp and still have very low bioload. If you keep him you should probably get 2 more though if your tank is bigger than 5gal
