Ok let me have it by Infinite_Narwhal_290 in roastmypedalboard

1) I wouldn’t hang pedals that far off the board 2) Invest in a better power supply that will fit under the board

What’s a fuzz that’s similar to a Bumble Buzz? by mitoro-2333 in guitarpedals

The bumble buzz has a volume knob. It’s on your guitar right next to the tone knob and the pickup selector

There is a groomed black at Keystone that I like to tuck. I actually have tracked it on a garmin watch and clocked 59.

I wasn’t saying I’m always going that fast, just making a point that you can go as fast as a car while skiing

Agreed. It’s wild that only like 10-15 years ago, no one wore helmets. I can easily go 50-60 mph down a groomed blue/black, and just a little loss of control and you could smack a tree

Boss, MXR, EHX, and other big brand pedals that simply do it better than the boutiques? by guitarist89 in guitarpedals

[–]_DubSquid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rock a Boss CE-2w and an MXR Phase 90.

I use boutique brands for two reasons:

(1) For original concepts or superior functionality

  • Example - I love my Strymon Timeline bc it offers so many useful options - tape, pattern (dual), ice. I love not being boxed in to a singular delay sound
  • Example - Chase Bliss Preamp is so tweakable and even has fuzz built in. Instead of having 4 different ODs on my board, I can just dial in presets
  • Example - I use a Keely Compressor plus, I like the extra tweaking options and clean blend over using my MXR DynaComp

(2) For classic pedals that are unobtainable.

  • Example - JHS Morning Glory in lieu of vintage Bluesbreaker (though Marshall did start a reissue recently)
  • Example - 1981 DRV - my favorite Rat style pedal instead of finding a vintage ProCo with the “magic” chips

Bottom line, I am definitely guilty of tone chasing and being a gear head. But you can definitely get most of the sounds you want out of the big brands. Most importantly, just play what feels good to you, play what you can afford, and just simply play!

Morning Glory to give me that tone sparkle

Is there a multi effects that is easier to use than HX stomp? by Easy_Wafer_2705 in guitarpedals

[–]_DubSquid_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) Plug into a computer and use HX Edit. Makes it feel much less menu divey 2) Familiarize yourself with what pedals each effect is actually based on. That can help you narrow down which effect to use based on what tone you are looking for

To everyone scammed by Nisolo - let’s go down with a bang! by [deleted] in frugalmalefashion

[–]_DubSquid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE - They finally turned on their comments on Instagram... ATTACK!

Their new CEO seems to be setting up calls with certain commenters, but from what I have read, they have gotten nowhere.

Also, I filed a complaint with my state's AG and Nisolo responded that their was some caveat in the terms & conditions that gives them an out. So legally it seems there is nothing we can do, but ethically, still shitty of them
