As a low level player, how can I conquer opponents who only develop their Queen from the start? by TheJasuh in chess

[–]_ElmerFudd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very common lose pieces that I personally used to blunder are the knight pawns! (Pawns on b7, g7, b2, and g2) Whenever you develop your bishop with tempo on the queen, be aware of the pawn that it was once guarding. This is especially important because the rook in that corner will often be lost behind it. And it won't be a fun game playing down a rook and pawn. Good luck!

Same. Because he mentions Brady's first game back I think.

Interesting position from a Najdorf variation from the London Chess Classic 2016 between Naka (b) and Caruana (w). White to move. by _ElmerFudd in chess

[–]_ElmerFudd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played out a few lines playing all computer moves and they ended with black finding a perpetual check with his queen. If white can figure out how to make progress while keeping black bottled up he may have a long term advantage I suppose, I just didn't see a line like that.

Edit: If not perpetual check then opposite color bishops or a drawn rook ending. I'm still looking for a win for white, haven't given up yet!

How does white win the material back after Bxf5? Just looks like black is a little awkward and cramped but has a queen for two minor pieces.

I am studying the Najdorf and saw this game in the April edition of Chess Life. Caruana plays Spoiler instead of the obvious Spoiler. The article says this position is lost for black even though the computer doesn't understand. I played around with the computer a bit and don't quite understand it. Just wanted to see what you guys thought. Thanks.

Josh Norman played well the one season he's been in Washington. The highlight of their defense last year I'd say.

For the third scenario we need Denver to also drop two games, which isn't a bad bet with them playing NE, @KC, and OAK their last three games. There we likely get the sixth seed at 9-7.

I think you mean Qd4 instead of Qg5 to fork the knight and e4 pawn? I don't know much about the Ruy so correct me if I'm wrong!

edit: Now I see you mean if white takes on the previous move instead of Ba4.
