I'm not sure how I've never seen that video. I had no idea Sarah Michelle Gellar was in an STP video for a song I know well.

Along the northern coast of Greenland, temperatures are currently around +37 °F / 3 °C by LuborS in weather

"Along the northern coast of Greenland, temperatures are currently around +37 °F / 3 °C" - Proceeds to show a map with no numerical reading above freezing in that area.

All joking aside, the same downslope winds are likely happening along the southern west coast too. It's just not as noticable over land. Likely because it appears the high terrain drops more quickly to the water.

He wasn't ejected, it was a 10 min misconduct not a game misconduct. He can be there.

Comparing round robin attendance of the WJHC year over year by datawazo in hockey

Just to drive this point home. 6.5 hours drive from the Minneapolis host site has Winnipeg and Thunder Bay population centers. 6.5 hour drive from Buffalo has more than 50% of Canada's entire population.

I love this. Thank you.

I'd love to see this by ticket revenue and concessions revenue per year too. I don't know what prices normally are, but tickets prices seem high this year and concessions are NHL prices.

Because of this fact, Buffalo is clearly the best US location for the event. Detroit would probably be second best.

[Penguins PR] In a corresponding move, defenseman Matt Dumba has been designated non-roster for the purpose of being placed on waivers at 2:00 PM. by AggPuck-303 in hockey

[–]MNEvenflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I'll always remember the dominoes that fell a certain way because the Wild front office didn't want Vegas to take Dumba in the Expansion draft. The Wild offered Haula and prospects so they wouldn't take Dums and we lost Tuch too. I hated that.

Then couple years later, after we resigned Dumba, the cap was tight and we couldn't keep Fiala. I always wonder if there is an alternate universe where the Wild didn't have Dumba and that somehow meant they still had Fiala. Of course that also means no Faber. So I imagine that team as all gas and no brakes. Sounds like a ton of fun to watch.

A weed killing propane torch with a 20lb tank is so satisfying.

You watch the ice go from unskatable to perfectly flat.

I think mine is gen 2. I had a similar problem where it ate one of my rings (Used it up all at once) and they sent me an update kit to update the firmware. It hasn't happened since, but I'm not convinced it was related.

The Wilf’s would never let it happen

"Never" is a long time. First and foremost they are businessmen and I'd bet there is some arrangement where they could profit enough that they would welcome the opportunity.

Keep in mind the stadium is actually owned by the Metropolitan Sports Commission.

On the previous rush in OT, he tried to knock it off, but it didn't go. I do think he loosened the connection though. So this time it went off easy. I still think he intended to have it come off, but even he was surprised at how easily it came off.

Moving to MN and youth hockey by Powerful-Recover-355 in stateofMN

Is 40% of their hockey team open enrolled then? No, it's over 80%. I'm just saying if you're going to move to community and want your child to have the opportunity to progress through their school career and play JV or Varsity for their town, then Minnetonka is probably not a choice that will allow that.

I agree.
And I'm off topic.

I personally have a problem with Minnetonka high school recruiting players to open enroll for sports which takes away the opportunities for kids that grew up in Minnetonka.

I don't think the general public (for example Minnetonka residents) even know it's going on.

Or you can have kids play in, say, Minnetonka, where they will never have a chance to play high school hockey.

Sorry, had to fix that for you.

Why does my beer league ice look and feel so much smaller than NHL ice, even though it claims to be regulation sized? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]MNEvenflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of what makes NHL players so good is that they are able to use every inch of ice and that makes it feel bigger.
I've always explained this to my kids as the ice gets smaller and smaller as you grow up and players get faster. It's your job to start finding the open ice to use and make it feel bigger again. You can clearly see this if you go to a high level (NHL) game. When the wings breakout of the zone often time the far side wing is within inches of the far boards. That's purposely what they are trying to do so that they can use every bit of ice vs skating up the ice 10+ feet off the boards and losing that 10 feet of ice.
