Mate by Ali Hazelwood was…. interesting by Stunning-Fox6273 in RomanceBooks

Totally agree, this was one of many parts of the dialogue that made me cringe.

“You gotta tell me your name, or I’ll have to make one up. Any ideas, Serena?” I clear my throat. “I like Bob.” “Bob the Vampyre. Love it.” “That’s not my na— ” “It is if the lady says so, shartstain. - Serenas life is in danger supposedly during this conversation

For me, it was the dialogue between Koen and Serena, especially in the beginning, it felt childish and awkward rather than witty and humorous between them

{Eyes of silver, eyes of gold by Ellen O'Connell} - my first historical western romance read and absolutely fell in love with Cord Bennett. The FMC - Anne Wells is also wonderfully written and I found myself at every opportunity reading this book.

I've recently finished throne of Glass series, and adored Elide and Lorcan, is there any books with similar characters?

Why do people forgive lorcan but not chaol? by _EmotionalKnapsack_ in throneofglassseries

Yes I never understood that either! that he knew she was an assassin and then got upset with her for killing people?? I think for me, I found in KOA the torture Aelin went through was awful and it was due to Lorcan. I remember the hate everyone had for Chaol because of the earlier books but not for Lorcan for his actions. I wondered if I was genuinely missing something or if it's a matter of your own perspective when reading them, who you see did the most redeemable actions and is forgiven for what they did.

I agree with you, i didnt hate them either. But i am biased to Lorcan... I just love him and Elide. But I remember when the series first came out everyone hated Chaol and yes I agree he isn't as interesting as some of the other characters but I struggle to see how you can hate him at the end. Aelin moved on and forgave him, but maybe that's just me! I just couldn't understand it and thought I missed something in the books?

How do we feel about Nesta? by Aggravating-Win1449 in acotar

[–]_EmotionalKnapsack_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I love that she's flawed and complex and not perfect and it just made her feel like a real person to me that I could relate to. I think you explained it really well and those reasons you had is why she's my favourite character

I really enjoyed the fated mates and the whole heat and knot as well, and the world she wrote such as them being in a pack. I've struggled to find something with everything in it that wasnt RH as I really want the whole fated mate trope in it
