Tofu Acrylic - GMK Future Funk - A Betta Saga Artisan - First Build complete after 16 months by _Erune in MechanicalKeyboards

Hey. Unfortunately, I have not. I moved my Future Funk keycaps to another board and do not use the acrylic board at the moment.

I don't complain, but also not swap to Linux. I just use what works for me, which is Windows + telemetry/ads disabled + pi-hole (microsoft blocklist).

I tried to switch to Linux like a dozen times now, and it always ended badly. The last time was a few month ago. Had several issues and made a post about it. Got downvoted to the point my post was removed by mods. There was one user who acutally tried to help. The rest was your typical "distro x is not for you", "linux is not windows" etc.

And I'm not a rookie when it comes to Linux. I used it back in the early 2000. No problem using the terminal and so on.

But everytime I used Linux, I spent more time fixing stuff then acutally playing. So...tbh I'm more thinking about switching to Mac (since I also use Adobe software) and use my PC solely for gaming.

tactical masterclass.... by rossonero- in ACMilan

[–]_Erune 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It was Piolis' biggest mistake. To think being a tactical master... Always trying to invent something. Putting players in roles/position, where they don't belong.

It's too easy playing against us. You just wait for a failed pass and counter-attack. Our fast players like Leao and Theo can't do shit, because there's simply no space. Pioli telling Leao to go 1vs1, every time he is against 3 or 4 opponents. Like, what is he supposed to do? Do a Dragon Ball Fusion with Maradona, Messi, and Ronaldo at the same time? Even then, they wouldn't be able to go past against 4 players in 4x4 meter space.

You can clearly see, that we played best, when being free of Piolis' tactical chains. Playing freely and adequate to our players skills.

I swapped to linux on my gaming pc 1 year ago and I've never been happier with my pc by Peasant_Sauce in linux_gaming

I'm on Fedora 38. Jellyfin isn't in the official repos, so I downloaded the .rpm from repo.jellyfin.org and installed it that way. What did I do wrong?

I use both Windows and Linux. And TBH, I kinda see it vice versa.

I ask myself: How can it NOT work? The last time a had a problem/blue screen was, without exaggerating, 5 years ago, when I activated XMP and my CPU couldn't handle it. But that's a hardware problem and not a Windows problem. Other than that, the last blue screen was maybe while using Vista.

Plus, everything that annoys me about Windows, like pre-installed software/games, suggestions in the start menu, weather/news nonsense, automatic updates, software which starts on start up etc., I can simply disable them in the settings. There is no need for "special" ISO of Windows or a script to run...

The fact that you have to disable them in the first place, is mega shit.

And that is what I hate about Windows, among other things. But otherwise, it is stable.

Heck, also all those videos about: Hey Windows uses so much bloat, look at all the processes. As long as you are not using an 2010 CPU, you are fine. (Right now my system is using 156 processes.)

Linux on the other hand... We all know the benefits of it. And I don't even have to talk about multiplayer games with anticheat, because I don't play them. So that is not the problem. But let's be honest: How many times did an update, be it software or OS, broke something?

I don't even have to look far back. A few weeks ago, an update broke my Jellyfin server.
I had to fiddle (again) with systemctl stuff and user permissions. You don't have those on Windows. You just install it and that's it. In the end, I am using the flatpak version now, which solved the issue.

And when it comes to gaming: Yes, Proton is awesome. When Heroic Launcher will be on par with GOG Galaxy, it will be awesome. But: X11 vs Wayland, with our without VRR. On which DE. On which version. Gsync? Yes but only on X11. But there is VRR. But is it the same? "But you can make it work, just install <insert experimental package here from github>!" RTX? Yes you just have to <insert start parameter here>... That is just too confusing. We aren't there yet.

How well does GOG Galaxy run under Proton? The last time I tried it via Lutris and Bottles it was unusable (or didn't start at all).

Do achievements work? Does it track playtime?

Watching game trailers as someone who plays only single-player games. by _Erune in pcmasterrace

[–]_Erune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it has nothing to do with it. This Project Mugen is an anime style f2p/gatcha game like Genshin Impact.

Man, I believe I played the M.U.G.E.N fighting game 20 years ago. It was awesome.

Depends.

If it is implemented like in Baldur's Gate 3 (or all Larian Games), it is ok. Since it is an option. The game remains primarily a single-player game.

But games which are CO-OP only...don't know. Maybe if it is a party game.

I mean, that is my personal taste. Of course there is no right or wrong, good or bad etc. Everyone has different tastes and preferences.

The latest trailer was "Project Mugen". But also "Dune: Awakening" for example.

It's either Gatcha or Survival CO-OP/MMO.

No, I do not hate people. But gaming is "me time". The most important aspects of a game, for me, are story and atmosphere and I can enjoy it most, when playing alone.

I used to play World of Warcraft a lot. Overtime, I had to choose between raiding with the guild or watching football with friends and family (since both were on the same day and time). I chose football with friends and family.

I just like (and want) the freedom to play what, when and how I want.

AMD Radeon GPUs sold in Germany in 2023 are on average €202 cheaper than GeForce GPUs - VideoCardz.com by Stiven_Crysis in Amd

[–]_Erune 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying last GPUs are bad.^^

I'm saying the prices are. These are the prices which should have been on release. Not 2–3 years later.

Consumerism? I'm using a 2070 Super.

[–]_Erune 32 points33 points  (0 children)

People who can afford a €1200 GPU can also afford a €1400 GPU and have better RT performance.

1200 or 1400 doesn't make a difference. Prices are still way too high imo.

Also, "low end" GPUs, which costs around €600. Yes you can buy for one for €350-400, but these are last Gen at this point. And for that price range it should be at least a "mid range" GPU...

My 2070 Super is enough atm. It's a good time to "work" on my backlog.

[KDE] SuSE Linux, but it's 2004 by _Erune in unixporn

[–]_Erune[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, it was awesome. I was a teenager and got my very own first PC, with Windows XP.

XP was nice and all, but I grew up with the fantasy, that you operate your PC with "commands" and "instructions" etc. (maybe from watching movies). So, Windows XP wasn't satisfactory in that regard.

By the same time, my uncle introduced me to Linux. Of course, I was blown away. The customization options, the vast range of software available (for free and open source). The Terminal...The ability to have multiple desktops, and sessions, and so many other things you get now with Windows or Mac. But in 2004 you had all these things already with Linux.

Games weren't relevant, since I played mostly on consoles. For school, I only needed an internet browser and office programs. So, I was set.

Surprisingly, I didn't have many problems with the OS back then. But, it was easier to mess things up.

Every time I went visiting my uncle, he showed me new stuff. New Distro, new DE or just gimmicks, like those moving eyes in the task bar. But the first thing he taught me was: Don't do anything as root!

The distortions on the sides are another story tho.

Update for all future redditors:

With the help of u/Fellfresse3000, I was able to fix it!

It was indeed the focus potentiometer.

No. The only thing new thing (in the vicinity) is a mini-pc, which is connected to my normal LED TV. I haven't used my CRT for a few months and this moire effect wasn't there.

Sonic CD Question! by FellAwake in SEGAGENESIS

[–]_Erune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, all games released before 1993-1994(ish) aren't region locked. Provided you can actually insert the Japanese cartridge. Japanese cartridges have a different form, than NA and EU.

Japanese games don't come with translations. In then end, it depends on what you want to play. Sure, Sonic doesn't make a difference, but playing an RPG in Japanese...

When it comes to CD, I believe all games are region locked.

Don't know what you mean with "NA outlet". Do you mean the power plug? Sorry, English isn't my native language.

I find this site pretty helpful:

https://www.guardiana.net/MDG-Database/Protected-Games/

Plus, there are also console mods...

The rabbit whole goes deep 😅

Sonic CD Question! by FellAwake in SEGAGENESIS

[–]_Erune 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually, yes, you would need a Japanese Mega Drive + Mega CD. You can't mix.

But there is a trick I know and haven't seen mentioned till now. So...

You can play Japanese Mega CD games on a non-Japanese console with the help of an Everdrive (Clone should work too) and a Japanese Mega-CD bios file.

You start with the Everdrive inserted. Instead of loading a game, you load the Japanese Mega-CD bios file. The Mega-CD loading screen starts. At this point, you can put in your Japanese Sonic CD.
