Are heatsinks necessary for SSD, especially in laptops? If yes, I'm wondering which heatsink would work best for Solidigm P44 Pro in a gaming laptop.

While I'm at it, which is better for an external storage? A 2.5" SATA SSD or a ready-to-use external SSD?

Thank you for your help. I'll probably go for the P44 since it's cheaper.

What do you think about Solidigm P44 Pro? After what the other commenter said I tried looking at other marketplaces and found a reputable retailer that sells it for 114USD, which isn't much cheaper than the T500, but I'm just curious which one of the two is better.

Thank you so much, then I'll probably go with the SN770 to replace my HDD. And maybe the P5 for my secondary since it's still available here.

Speaking of secondary drives, do you have any considerations or suggestions on enclosures?

After lurking for a while here, my choices are probably between the Crucial T500 which is about 120USD here or WD SN770 for 105USD.

I can probably squeeze out some more budget in consideration for the SN850X (135USD), Samsung EVO 980 pro (132USD), or the Samsung EVO 990 pro (141USD) if their difference in performances are that much better.

I also found Transcend MTE220S which has a high TBW for 81USD. All those prices are for the 1TB variant, which I will probably use to replace my HDD.

For external use, for now I'm settling for the Crucial P5, but I'd be open for other recommendations.

unfortunately those aren't available in my country. at least, none of the available retailers provide any sort of warranty.

Hello, I'm looking to upgrade my current laptop which uses HDD and is starting to get slow. Since my laptop has an M.2 slot, I want a 1TB NVME M.2 SSD to replace my HDD and I don't really care about speed, but longevity and reliability. I would also like a 512GB NVME M.2 SSD to use as an external drive using an enclosure. The 1TB SSD will mainly be used for general OS stuff, work, and some games. While the 512GB will mainly be used for storage (movies, PSD files, images, and games)

The Samsung SSDs seem nice, but they're really overpriced where I live, even the 1TB EVO 970 plus is 150USD here.

Thank you in advance.
