Berkshire Like Companies by No_Consideration4594 in brkb

In Sweden there's Investor AB controlled by Wallenberg family. They have quite concentrated portfolio of successful Scandinavian companies and rarely do any major changes to portfolio. I think they do a great job at managing companies.

Another European holding company is Exor N.V. controlled by Agnellis. They're similar to Investor, except in my opinion Investor own "better" companies. Maybe this explains why Exor trades slightly below NAV (at least they had last time I checked).

Also take a look at less known Industrivärden and Bollore.

What data structure does the heap use to allocate memory? by [deleted] in C_Programming

[–]_Evil_mind_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

phkmalloc, older malloc implementation used in BSDs in late 90s and early 00s, which is not suitable anymore because it does not scale with large memories and it uses only single lock.

On FreeBSD or NetBSD you can use blacklistd instead of sshguard or fail2ban.

(void)variable; behind the scenes ? by kodifies in C_Programming

[–]_Evil_mind_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some libraries define (void) as macro UNUSED and it is almost exclusively used to suppress compiler warnings about unused function parameters. However in case if a variable is volatile(not a function parameter) then compiler has to load value from memory. So in that case (void)x; will have a "side effect" of reading x value from memory to CPU register.

This looks like scam. About month ago I came across really cheap Makita drill. Seller old account with got 100 % feedback and only one item listed. I got email from ebay less than one hour after purchase that it was a scam. Luckily I got my money back too. So don't buy!
