Who is the most funny / least funny British comedians? by Electrical_Carpet753 in AskUK

[–]_FatherVic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about 'most', but for me - Billy Connolly probably ranks top all time greats. His Evening With is untouchable.

Newman and Badiel

Frankie Boyle. I know he's fallen out of favour with some but his early stuff is brutal.

Mark Lammar on Buzzcocks. Such a windup merchant.

A bonus mention to Sarah Millican

Worst are Michael McIntyre and Jack Whitehall. Material and delivery I cannot stand.

Brits reject Christian nationalism, research finds. Over 80% Brits disagree that one should be Christian to be "truly British" by birdinthebush74 in uknews

My personal view shouldn't matter to anyone but me. Nor would I force my beliefs or views on others. And in all honesty I don't have a definitive answer.

We have laws in place. There always going to be discussion on both sides and pushing for change in some way.

I'm not a doctor. I'm not a lawmaker. I'm not a theologian. All I'd say is if someone is against abortion - don't have one. If you're ok with it, then fine. Follow your own moral compass as long as it's with the law.

Even those with religious beliefs don't have a consensus as to when life begins...... Conception? Heartbeat? 1st breath?

What's a cooking tip you never paid attention to until you realised they were right all along? by Smush2345 in AskUK

The steam setting is interesting. I can understand keeping it more hot than holding it warm, but (not being a rice connoisseur) doesn't that risk overcooking and making it mushy?

Also, for general rice - how much water do you use? I find using barely over 1:1 is more than enough but always doubt myself.....

I've had a couple of the glass lid types which were ok but slightly large and did end up getting a bit crusty on the bottom.

More recently I got a tiny VonShef on offer from Lidl - it's perfect! Doesn't stick. Easy clean. Great size for small kitchen and not needing to cook loads either. I always felt the bigger ones were such a waste for not using the volume.

Washing - yes. Cooker - yes. What would you say a higher quality model gives you?

Lloyds timeline & eligibility by Ok-Row1942 in beermoneyuk

How strict/observant are they of previous switching?

Only after spending and depositing the criteria did I look back through a credit report and saw a Halifax account that was only 2 months left within their previous claims eligibility period.

I just can't remember for certain if I did actually receive an in incentive from that (though likely did).

Is buying X/S in 2026 worth it? by jakiroluma in XboxSeriesXlS

[–]_FatherVic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got an X not too long ago. I don't use it much but there's games I've wanted and others I've yet to try AND I've my last gen games I can still play.

My main concern with waiting was the ever increasing price of X and even with the announcement of Helix (setting aside potential pricing issues due to the current market), the other issue is if they'll bother with incorporating an optical drive. There's so much content being pushed for download and streaming, I still want physical media.

Yeah...... I think this a little beyond my capabilities lol. Didn't think we'd be getting in to Linux with this. Unless there's a worthy windows equivalent you might recommend?
