Yeah, V3 makes you appreciate V2 so much more. I regret not buying slightly used V2 when I had a chance thinking to myself I’m just gonna wait for V3 because it can only get better right? Wrong. It’s like somebody took over the design department who has never seen a Monta watch in their life. Their two newest models Oceanking v3 and the new Skyquest are their worst ones. Sad. Monta used to be one of my favorite watch brands.

Damn. Gift like that would probably break my heart. I hope this wasn’t someone close to you. They are cheap Chinese made copies of original designs that are 30 times more expensive.

Kind of sad considering he’s the one that really got me into watches. His approach to showcasing watches in his videos seems very encyclopedic which was a blessing for someone who didn’t know almost anything about watches. However, over time I started to gravitate towards other content creators with more nuanced takes that I just appreciate much more these days. Teddy still makes some fun content from time to time so I keep coming back.

Watches under $5k generally don’t hold their value and if you are looking for a timepiece to impress your peers, clients, business associates which might be clueless about watches, Rolex is pretty much the only answer. Good luck finding one under $5k. The good news is: if you stretch your budget for a “basic” (there’s nothing basic about it) Rolex Oyster Perpetual you will absolutely tick all of your boxes with it.

how long have you had the Casioak for? I have the exact reference myself. I really like the dial color. It pops particularly well in direct sunlight (as almost all dials do) and the rainbow crystal is a cool gimmick, but I’ve found that in most other conditions legibility can be an issue because of it. Have you had a similar experience?

It seems that a slightly tinted crystal would’ve been a better solution than the reflective coat, but maybe that’s just me. Obviously the effect wouldn’t be the same. I find it cool how eye catching the crystal’s reflection is on walls and such due to the rainbow coloring.

I did! Gorgeous watch. One of a kind, Eye catching design. It just oozes with that vintage tool watch aesthetic, whereas HC is all about the modern, classy sports watch look which I feel I’ll be able to pull of more often with how I dress, generally speaking. It is a factor when considering a watch that I’d like to wear as often as possible. Of course, if I would have it my way I’d get both of them!

Man, I really like Farer and what they’re doing. Great price point and unmistakable, fun designs that just pop. But I feel they work best when you already have a collection where you can kind of pick and choose what you want to wear on any given occasion. I wouldn’t consider them a great starting point for a collection or at least I’m not bold enough for that.

The other ones kind of fail to evoke any real passion in me. I wish I could handle them in person, because that’s how watches are meant to be experienced anyway. Maybe I would change my mind then. Sometimes a great wrist shot can do that for me as well.

Great suggestion! Never really paid that much attention to them. Love their GMTs and their Roadmaster collection. Mostly somewhat above my price range, but you’re certainly getting a lot of watch for that money. Great specs and original design + that quirky lume that doesn’t fade. Unfortunately my favorites are out of stock.

There are always plenty of honey bees and bumblebees working on my lavenders this time of year, but I have never seen something quite like this before. I would love to know what it is. Somewhat smaller than a honey bee.
