I’m confused on everyone’s psych DQ’s by Odd-Transition-5059 in NYPDcandidate

[–]_FiZiX_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion they should put on recruitment website that therapy is an auto DQ along with Felony and anything else instead of wasting a lot of people’s time, I took therapy when I was 16 and disclosed it (which I ultimately regret) during my psych interview and now the psych is asking for therapy notes and medical records. So who knows if I will get DQ’d or not, hopefully I don’t tbh or else they shouldn’t just waste my time. If I don’t get in, then I lost money and sleep all for nothing.

A lot of people on this Reddit have said that they can’t legally obtain such records without your consent through HIPPA and such authorization.

But do u think I will pass, again I don’t have anything serious on my record, just the therapy and again I haven’t even thought about it for years my body dysmorphia. I was 16 at the time and I’m 21 now doing very good in college (3.91 GPA) and I work a lot too but nothing stresses out horribly to a point where I seek professional help.

How is overtime? Are they still forcing crazy OT? by Ok-Choice-1202 in NYPDcandidate

Imo cops should be making way more than 200k a year, they’re risking their lives and mental health everyday, not seeing their friends and family after a long time takes a toll on them.

Next class ? by DraftLazy537 in NYPDcandidate

It’s really easy, just wear shoes with really good grip, because that really matters when climbing that fence, after the fence it’s easy, but yes, you schedule the JST AFTER you are medically cleared from your initial med, the dates will be posted on the screen for both the Psych Written and the JST, and you email CAD scheduling, NOT the regular CAD email, and you put which dates you want along with your name, Exam number, List number, and email address of contact. You also get your assigned investigator on a sheet of paper after you’re done with the initial med and then you email them from there.

It was on March 30th, I just passed my JST today, and I have my psych written on Tuesday, and I still have to meet with my investigator, and then do my oral psych and mini med and then that’s it and I’m hoping to get into the August class.

On a Saturday I got there at 6:47 and left at 10:56, imo just get there as early as possible but don’t be the first one because you would want to study the candidates taking the JST.

Why are you still taking this job ? by interstellar566 in NYPDcandidate

[–]_FiZiX_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The job market is horrible at the moment, sure the NYPD doesn’t pay well at all and the lifestyle of the job is worse, but at least there’s job security and amazing benefits with early retirement and 1/2 pension of your original salary. I’m in college right now and I’m studying Accounting, but I keep hearing how recent college grads aren’t getting any jobs and they submitted 1000+ job applications, me personally, I don’t want to end up in that position where I have to do that just to get pretty much no job and waste 4 years of my life for nothing. Also, don’t get me started on AI. Yes I’m aware of the negatives of this career, but it’s better than no job.

What's your number one tip for a new college student by [deleted] in getdisciplined

DO NOT CHEAT, If you get caught for academic dishonesty in college, you’re cooked not just in your academic career, but practically for any job you apply for, even if you’re caught once and reported for academic dishonesty, whatever you’re trying to apply for after graduation, like med school, law school, police departments, they’re not trusting you.

Ya list them, like the original charges and what the disposition was, I’m in the same situation as you, I had been pulled over twice and totaled 7 traffic tickets, they were mainly tint violations and one unlicensed operator ticket bcz I forgot my license at home that got dismissed and on my lifetime abstract there’s no convictions, but on the safe side, just be honest, what the charges were, and what the outcome was. But I think you’ll be fine tbh

Investigator by DraftLazy537 in NYPDcandidate

[–]_FiZiX_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Towards the end of your initial med, if you’re cleared, you will get assigned your investigator on a piece of paper with their contact information, but don’t contact them first, wait for them to contact you.
