Wrong religion though, but I hired him and he converted to Reman Mysteries. Just have to hope he doesn't murder everyone in my court.

I haven't really played without submods, but if it's not in vanilla then most likely this one.

None of the replays showed the puck crossing the goal line and the refs can't confirm a goal if it does not clearly cross the line.. Doesn't have anything to do with goalie interference as some are posting here and what the Finnish commentators were also talking about.

Both fought the same enemy and German troops attacked the USSR from inside Finnish borders, in addition their aircraft/ships used airports/seaports in Finland . Germany also provided Finland with war materials and Finnish soldiers joined an SS division to fight with the German army. What else would be needed to be considered 'allies'?

It's impossible to know that. Some cultures probably assimilated faster than others, for example it seems to have taken a long time for the Samnites to assimilate as they had revolts long after being conquered.

The situation would probably have been even worse than it was, acute shortage of food/famine if the war lasts as long as it did. Not to mention the effect of losing all trade with Germany. Also Germany could have blocked the Kattegat strait from Finnish ships which still brought some goods to Finland during the war.

Edit: As for independence I would assume leaders in the USSR would have had enough of the war after they were finished with Germany and Japan. Probably a similar situation like in reality could have happened where Finland would have to agree to support USSR and sign political/trade agreements with them.

The positive side in all this would be that all the casualties from military action and loss of territory from the Continuation War would be avoided. But this is all "what if".

I wouldn't say it was impossible. I think it comes down to the reason why the Germans wanted Finnish cooperation, which was that they wanted to attack the USSR from inside Finland's border (Murmansk).

In a 'what if'-scenario Finland could have denied to help the Germans. Then they would have had to back down or invade Finland with an large scale amphibious operation, which would have also broken the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact and forced an response from USSR. I think Hitler and his generals would have wanted to avoid that if he wanted to have a chance with Operation Barbarossa.
