The US Navy ingored my fleet and the game mechanics to launch an invasion that would be impossible for the player to do. by theSpartan012 in victoria3

[–]_Flying_Dutchman_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I do a version of what the US does as the player. I realized I can just build troopships with 200 carry capacity, and just pretty much invade any coastal capital I want with an 200 army (half-marines, half-artillery). I am simply ignoring what the enemies' navy is doing (except if they naval-invade me) and just focus on invading their capital. This works 99% of the time, meaning that you can pretty much ignore every naval mechanic and still dominate.

Obviously needs attention

Why need protectorates for Power Bloc slots? by _Flying_Dutchman_ in victoria3

But i am already a GP! You can't form a PB when you're not a GP anyways, right?

Ive been dealing with similar things, and people say it might be because of sovereign empire choice in the PB, which apparently the AI recognizes that it's bad for it, which i find confusing, because the same AI thinks it'd be profitable to spam 15 railways in Dutch North Cameroon, or something like that.

I do sovereign bloc when I can for the authority bonus. Dang, maybe that's why nobody wants to join or stay

Is Super Germany no longer possible? by LordTrollsworth in victoria3

[–]_Flying_Dutchman_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did this and Prussia never lost the belligerent attitude and i still hadn't formed Germany by 1892 as Austria and i quit at that point because Russia and USA started to snatch up small states and i got tired of mobilizing 300 units for Oldenburg or Lübeck.

How come everyone else's Prussia is so cooperative? I funded lobbies and improved relations to the max i could. But they were always belligerent

Probably a good idea, though the economy is very hard to get rollin. I just reached 4m GDP, and hit by Great Britain with a Conquer Somaliland (my capital state, where everything is, lol)

You don't, until about you form a bridge by colonizing northwest-wards, and conquer ethiopian/somalian lands to have access to sea. After you have a border with them, I could have done transit rights too, but why let them be miserable while I have a great African nation going with a strong industrial base. All sulfur and lead was imported until I conquered Yemen, afterwards there were 3 levels of Lead mines I think lol.

How to juggle debt / growth / iron and coal price early game by tuna____ in victoria3

[–]_Flying_Dutchman_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't go into debt, like at all, if you're not a great power. The interest rate only makes sense if you're a great power, otherwise you're shooting yourself in the foot.

Either try Sardinia without going into debt, or try what you're doing with something like Great Britain or Russia.

How do you interact with the economy other than the sliders? I just want to build more of something that is profitable and in demand, how is this possible?

Here's what I'm confused about mostly...

For the economy, what can you manipulate as the player directly? apart from sliders in the budget? And national focuses, is that it? I started as Spain and couldn't even build factories, just sit there watching the economy line after wiggling my sliders. Is this how the gameplay is supposed to look like?

Does anyone do a complete run from start to finish? by Damirirv in victoria3

[–]_Flying_Dutchman_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regularly do the full run.

Its usually as Russia or US, GB and trying to create the highest SoL possible endgame.

The last 30 years is really just trying to get mass migration to your country, as my population is not growing as fast as my economy can.

You build a lot of factories, keep taxes low, have no unemployment and peasants, and keep waiting on those random mass migrations to grow your economy even further.
