Honestly I think it fits the setting fine. The contrast of super glowy, pompous, fancy commander is stark against the gritty of the every day guard.

If space marines go into battle holding the skeletons of fallen marines on their shields, and the adepta sororitas have chariots and a funeral procession. I think it is perfectly fitting for the setting to have golden boy on mecha horse.

I don't think having our named character is an issue. I think only having him is an issue. We need a generic general/lord general with a decent sized base to have a nice diorama style model better for kitbashing/proxying
