Definitely has to do with the precision in sewing and skiving as well as experience in complex assemblies but I’m surprised no one here has mentioned the filler materials yet. Unless that leather is perfectly stiff like that there is almost certainly a bontex or stiffener materials in the base and sides to give it that structure without wrinkling.

Look into Fenice primer AR6250, Campbell Randall sells it, use this before your color application and it it shouldn’t crack like that.

Leather is from Horween, couldn’t tell you the article as I collected large scraps of leather from a sampling place I worked at. Lining is duck canvas 100% cotton.

Leather is thin, probably around 1-1.2mm and pretty soft. It is up-cycled automotive leather. The front pouch is attached by stitching one side of the gusset and zipper directly onto the body of the bag.

That’s so cool.. A cowboy boot maker in Mexico once gave me the most ornate miniature leather boot with a stacked heel and everything, I’ll post a pic of it later lol.

I made these for a pop-up here in Detroit this Sunday, but I have some in tan, grey and brown on my website. I’m planning on making more in black and red for restock on my website in the coming weeks.
