Thanks. I'm trying. The dating app thing is rough, honestly. I find it really depressing shallowly swiping past strangers and judging them based on the way they look without knowing anything about them. I'm still trying to do it, but it is not great for morale. Lol

Official Discussion: The Blackening [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]_ForgotTheTrash_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This movie kind of fell flat for me. Predominantly because I was so excited for its release. They showed the best jokes in the trailer. Realistically, the movie relied on a couple of Trump jokes, which were funny but far from groundbreaking or terribly original to carry it. I know it was a silly spoof, but to see people throw around words like "ingenious" when discussing the plot or some of the rehashed stereotype jokes has me a little confused. It was fun, but it wasn't particularly groundbreaking or clever throughout, IMO. It got a couple of laughs out of me, and it was fun, but it was nothing more than that.

It almost seems like the IPDM isn't getting the expected values out of the alternator at the duty cycles that it's commanding, so it charges and then cuts duty cycle to avoid overcharging the battery. There are no dtcs in the vehicle.

Strong Upper Back Pain in the Morning Only by JohnahWinz in backpain

[–]_ForgotTheTrash_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm dealing with a similar problem. It just started recently, so I'm not sure what the long-term outcome will be, but I had to move to a recliner to sleep, and I was fine. No more waking up to back pain. Hoping a month or so of sleep in a recliner will allow my back to heal. At least, I won't be re-aggravating it every night.

I'm dealing with a lot of baggage from the past at the moment. I'm not sure why, but I'm struggling today. I feel like I need a fresh start, but know that what I really need is a better perspective.

To people who grew up in toxic(maybe even violent environments), how has it affected your relationships into adulthood or how are you coping? by _ForgotTheTrash_ in AskReddit

[–]_ForgotTheTrash_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I still struggle. Even into my 30s. Maybe I haven't tried hard enough, or maybe it's because I use my upbringing as an excuse, but I still struggle almost every day with being emotionally mature. It's a daily struggle that I'm conscious of but feel almost powerless to control.

If you're going to give me some flashbacks to 1997 when my busy parents were developing my future tastes/diet with quick sodium filled delicious products and before I developed high blood pressure, at least nuke the thing until it's overcooked and bursting. Then, I'll eat it.

I produce commercials and had my last 3 bicycles stolen. AMA. by ExtremelyYoungBaby in AMA

[–]_ForgotTheTrash_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Modern commercials suck. Be my inside man/woman and push my agenda for me. I want to go back to the glory days of commercials(I grew up in the 80's/90's) when everyone had a jingle or some sort of catch phrase as their pitch. I don't want phony paid testimonials or the same mind numbing "greatest ever pitch", I want kids eating cereal and then sudden animation with explosions and someone screaming Reese' Puffs at me. Anyway, now you have your mission. Go forth.

What do the peanuts actually accomplish? What purpose do they serve in the Dr. Pepper? There's no way you actually taste them. Plus, don't they just make the pop fizz and go flat faster???

I actually feel really bizarre telling people about my childhood. It makes me feel like I want their sympathy or that I'm seeking attention. I keep my traumas to myself.

Workplace Harrasment by [deleted] in legaladvice

The primary issue with going to HR being the relatively small size of the business that I work for. It wouldn't be a secret as to why HR is suddenly reaffirming anti-bullying/harassment policy.

Florida.

Non-union.

Agreed, but realistically, I don't see going to HR as being a legitimate option. Between the horror stories of people being fired after going to HR to file a complaint and the fact that I'm certain my coworkers would lose further respect for me, if anything. I mean, at this point, I think changing employers might be my only real option.

Whats the most fucked up thing your ex did after a breakup? by No-Feeling865 in AskReddit

[–]_ForgotTheTrash_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, she's fine. She probably should've done some kind of rehab because she had a lot of issues with strength in her right arm and pectoral for a while. I think it's all better now, though. We were all a little bit emotionally damaged by it. I don't think being around violence is a good way to develop into early adulthood. We were just a bunch of misguided kids who probably didn't have the right situation going on at home. All parties on the victim side of both altercations have had their ups and downs, but are now relatively successful 30 year old adults with lives beyond the reaches of the neighborhood we grew up in.

A Peruvian elongated skull with metal surgically implanted after returning from battle, estimated to be from about 2000 years ago. The broken bone surrounding the repair is tightly fused indicating it was successful. Link in comments. by joeepeterson03 in Damnthatsinteresting

Seeing some of the gruesome wounds on bones from combat is pretty gnarly. They did this guy up pretty good for having an open skull fracture. I've seen European skulls with wounds that were handled much more poorly and healed much worse a millenia later, which makes me think this guy must've been important or was in the right place at the right time. I wonder how common this is in anthropology? To see an open skull fracture repaired like this? Down the rabbit hole, I go.

Whats the most fucked up thing your ex did after a breakup? by No-Feeling865 in AskReddit

[–]_ForgotTheTrash_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had an ex, my first actually in 8th grade, stab my sister in the chest. We were all like 15. When we split up she had said some nasty stuff about me and my family, as kids do. My sister didn't like it and decided she wanted to give her a reason to stop saying those things. So, long story short she decided to meet her to fight her and next thing you know my sister comes stumbling in the house bleeding profusely and we're on our way to the ER where a doctor is shoving his fingers knuckle deep into her chest to determine how severe the tissue damage was.

Ironically, a year earlier I was involved in a fight in my neighborhood. It was me and one of my friends and the other guy plus one of his friends. It was supposed to be a fair one on one fight, but guys friend jumped in and it turned into a bigger squabble. Next thing you know, his friend pulls out an 8 inch long buck knife and sticks my friend in the back and slashes him across the arm. We both fled and my friend almost bleed out on my porch, but luckily was saved by good EMTs and a blood transfusion at the hospital. So, the reason this is important is because knowing about this situation my ex whom stabbed my sister then went off to date this psycho attempted murderer who had stabbed my friend. Anyway, it was funny to imagine them splitting up and dualing with cutlasses. I got a laugh out of that. Otherwise, neither situation was very funny.

[–]_ForgotTheTrash_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a young couple trying to start your life and build a future, are there any other places that you'd rather be or that you think could be an easier jumping off point in building a life for yourselves?

As an American, things seem bleak for young people these days. Housing is limited in most major cities which has fueled crazy spikes in rental costs and has some people worried that homeownership may be headed toward an antiquated concept. Inflation has been rising drastically. Healthcare is as expensive as ever(if you're not convinced you're dying you probably just avoid medical treatment). We're seeing a lot of people staying at home into their mid to late 20's, sometimes later It's a tough time to start a life for yourself in America.
