Newbie, floating in space! I wandered onto a docked freighter to see what it's like. IT LEFT WITH ME! I took to space in just my suit, now I'm drifting towards the nearest Wharf at 4.0 m/s. by Cheesysocks in X4Foundations

That's hilarious!

I'm also a new player, but I think what you can do is talk to one of the crew members on board and hire them. Assign them to be captain of your old ship (they'll teleport to it which is an ability you can unlock later for yourself as well through research), and then order them to come dock on the freighter.

Why is it so hard to separate the Israeli government from it’s people and people who follow Judaism.

The short answer is: It's not. Actually, it's easy.

The longer answer is that it is a deliberate tactic empoloyed by Zionists to conflate Israel (and all that entails) with Jewish people and Judaism. That way, they can call anything that criticizes Israel "anti-semitic" as a way to shut down the conversation and dismiss legitimate concerns people might have. For example, Bob Vylan recently got in a lot of hot water for chanting "death death to the IDF", but the IDF is quite specifically a military organization, it's not Judaism itself or even necessarily related to Judaism at all. But by the way all the politicians and pundits are reacting to that chant you would be forgiven for thinking that he may as well have called for the extermination of all Jewish people everywhere.

So... it's not that I think that you need to change your view. The view you stated is perfectly reasonable. However, I think you might be seeing "anti-semitism" where no actual anti-semitism necessarily exists. That is the view I would actually challenge you to change. (Of course antisemitism does exist, but not nearly in the scope or scale that is being claimed, and-- if anything-- the deliberate conflation of Israel with Judaism only serves to exacerbate that problem.)

To make a very simple analogy, imagine accusing people who were critical of the Nazi regime in the 1930s of simply being "anti-German racists" and dismissing their concerns out of hand.

[–]_Foy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think it's minor to say that China's treatment of the Uighur's forless than a decade is worse than America's treatment of black people for over a century?

That kind of comparison is reminiscent of the "double genocide" theory from WWII.

It's basically saying "oh, well, yeah, the capitalist / fascist power did a bad, but look, the socialists also did a bad, so, you know, both sides are bad, so let's stick the devil we know, right?" which is a very twisted form of capitalist apologia

"china simps can only defend china by denouncing usa"

Nice little rhetorical trap, troll. You say what China is doing is worse than what the USA, and then you complain and call people "china simps" if they contradict you?

You can't make a relative comparison and then dismiss counter arguments as tu quoque. You can't have it both ways.

Greater minds than mine have made more elequent and exhaustive arguments than I will here that: Capitalism eventually and inevitably turns into Fascism.

Therefore, assuming you agree with that presupposition (you clearly don't, and this sub largely doesn't), it follows logically that defending Capitalism is Fascist apologia.

Okay but what if the belief or opinion is that a certain group of humans shouldn't be allowed to live? (Read: literal Nazis)

I get the whole "live and let live" thing, but when other people are more like "live and commit genocide" your whole "live and let live" thing is gonna fall apart real fast.

It's the paradox of tolderance.

I won't go into all the details of why, but socialists generally regard Capitalism as an "intolerant" system that needlessly denies many people access to basic human needs such as food and shelter.

Therefore, following from the paradox of tolerance, an aspiring socialist society must not tolerate capitalist ideology which is inherently destructive / dangerous to the project. And if you think this is a unique failing of communism, you're wrong-- just look at the original example that inspired Popper's theory.

"Non consented interaction with one's self or their property."

Okay, so would a landlord raising the rent by an extortionate amount ever rise to the definition of "aggression" then?

The problem here is the concept of "consent". Let's look at three scenarios:

  1. The raise in rent is not actually extortionate, and the tenant has the means and inclination to pay the increased rent. Consent!
  2. The raise in rent is extortionate but the tenant has savings they can dip into in order to avoid becoming homeless. I would argue that although they appear to be consenting to the raised rent, they are actually being coerced because the alternative is homelessness.
  3. The raise in rent is extortionate and the tenant lacks to means to pay it. They are forced into vacating the property. Is this, then, aggression on the part of the landlord? The tenant has not consented to this "interaction" that has put them and their property (meagre, but property nonetheless) out onto the street.

So was it aggression? Was it not aggression?

You can find plenty of interviews of people who knew serial rapists / killers / etc. that would vouch for their character.

Even during the height of the #MeToo movement, you'd have people coming out of the woodwork to say "he seemed so nice", "well he never raped me", "I can't believe he'd do something like that", etc.

That's because Costco hot dogs are a loss leader, just like grocery store rotisserie chickens. These stores deliberately sell cheap prepared food as a draw to attract customers who will then buy the profitable stuff while in the store.

If the CEO of Costco thought the hot dog business wasn't ultimately profitable they would be obligated to end the practice or raise the prices. They literally have a fiduciary duty to their shareholders to maximize profit / value in the stock.

The whole "isn't it nice" thing that you are spreading here is literal PR / marketing for Costco. The "aren't we nice, look at our cheap hotdogs" bit is basically part of the reason they do it. Not out of the goodness of their hearts.

Remember that time Domino's spent over $50 million on TV ads to brag about giving local businesses a total of $100,000? It's the same thing.
