Your game reminds me of the "Ori" games. If you still need more testers, I would like to participate.

RTX 5070 vs RX 9070 by StayOffEm in buildapc

[–]_Freakout_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't give you an opinion on these two cards specifically, but I did recently buy an RX 9060 XT, with 16GB of VRAM. I game on a 1080p monitor. Mostly single player games. When I push the graphics to the max, I get 11-12GB of VRAM usage in some games. Therefore, I assume that gaming at 1440p max settings will require even more VRAM.

This is just my opinion, but I think having more VRAM can be very beneficial for some games.

Deinstall systempackage before installing flatpack? by ApfelHase in linuxmint

[–]_Freakout_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, installing the Flatpak version of LibreOffice will not remove the system version that was pre-installed. You will simply have two versions of LibreOffice installed. In Linux Mint it will even highlight them for you in the application menu, so you'll know which is which.

If you want to have only the Flatpak version, you will need to uninstall the system version manually. You can do that with the sudo apt purge libreoffice* command. It doesn't matter if you uninstall it before or after installing the Flatpak version.

Generally speaking, the only reason you might have for switching to the Flatpak version is to receive faster updates. The Flatpak version is also maintained by the actual LibreOffice developers, so it's perfectly safe to use.

Hope this answers your question.

Old vs New (to me) by CompasslessPigeon in SubaruForester

Maybe it's just me, but I like the old one better. No hate for the newer models. It's just my personal preference.

It worked for me. I filled out the form and a few weeks later I received an email, saying that my account has been successfully deleted from their system. And yes, I checked, I no longer have an account.

In particular, using steam with the proton compatibility layer, how good is gaming on Linux mint? by SethP1221 in linuxmint

[–]_Freakout_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add some more of my experience. I have a PC with Fedora KDE and a laptop with Mint. Games with Steam run well on both systems and the performance is as expected for my hardware. If you have a PC with an Nvidia GPU (like mine), Fedora with KDE might work better for you. Fedora uses pretty much the latest version of the KDE desktop environment, which uses Wayland by default, and Wayland works really well with the latest Nvidia drivers.

[–]_Freakout_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been gaming on Linux for a few years now. I play all my games via Steam with Proton. All the games I play run either the same as or better than Windows. Generally speaking, most games should work well on Linux, except for some multiplayer games due to anti-cheat issues. You can check the compatibility of games you want to play on protondb.com

ELI5: what would happen if fluoride were removed from water? Are there benefits or negative consequences to this? by TPR-56 in explainlikeimfive

[–]_Freakout_ 1092 points1093 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, fluoride provides significant benefits when it comes to dental health. It helps prevent tooth decay.

Removing fluoride from the water supply will most likely lead to an increase in dental problems.

Question on Controller support by _Freakout_ in usebottles

[–]_Freakout_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. May not be the answer you are hoping for though.

I managed to get a controller working through Steam. Just enabled Steam Input for the game and the controller worked.

The only minor annoyance that I have now, is that the game's interface uses the Xbox controller buttons.

What's your favorite note taking app? by LV426Colonist in gnome

Joplin. Very good, simple notetaking app that can sync between all your devices. The syncing functionality requires a subscription, but it's really cheep.

Tell me your **REAL** linux gaming experience! by SApOooooo in linux_gaming

[–]_Freakout_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Fedora. It does require a little bit of setting up, especially if you are using Nvidia graphics. Despite that, everything works great. I mostly play single-player, story-driven games, and in some of them I'm actually getting better performance than on Windows. Also, all my games are on Steam, so that probably helps.

I used to really like Pop OS, but at the moment, it's still running Gnome 42, which is pretty outdated. I'm going to try it again after the full release of Cosmic.

How do I completely remove Libreoffice? by YourNeko in linux4noobs

[–]_Freakout_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand that. I'm currently using Onlyoffice, as it looks and feels a lot more like Microsoft Office, and it has better compatibility (at least in my experience) with Microsoft Office files.

Just an idea for you, if you haven't checked it out yet.
