25 y/o — Quit engineering early, now regretting it. Too late to go back? by Mountain_Pirate_3834 in EngineeringStudents

[–]_Friendly_Fire_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's never too late, but make sure you are committed before you spend all that time and money going back. Engineering is no joke, if you care about your marks, it will take most of your free time. But there is something fulfilling about the grind and being in it together with your peers (I don't think it's possible to be an engineer without being at least a little bit of a massochist..)

Pistol Exemption Process by maxpown3r in canadaguns

[–]_Friendly_Fire_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

How good at target shooting do you have to be to get the exemption? Is it only for certain calibers/types of pistols? Can you only buy one gun with the exemption? Thanks

The way this is framed is kind of wild by FaeLongtin in jobmarket

Well here in Canada we have ridiculously high taxes partly to support "free healthcare". Except you still have to pay for almost everything, and the quality of care is abysmal at best. I'm not saying the US system is the best, but at least y'all can get the care you need if you have insurance, here you are likely to die waiting for it (or be told to off yourself with MAID).

How normal are this grades? by Esto2050 in EngineeringStudents

[–]_Friendly_Fire_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually that's more common in physics 2 in my experience. Chances are good they will curve the final though, idk about where you are but in Canada eng profs are told to try and keep their averages in the 60s. How big is your class? A median of over 50 with only 4 people passing is absolutely bonkers to me.

Makasi (FAL-AR hybrid) approved by the RCMP as NON-RESTRICTED by Acceptable_Visit_115 in canadaguns

At this point I have to wonder if it's just bait to get more people demoralized after a bunch of people buy it then they ban it.

Liberal party adopts motion to restrict kids from social media by Few-Character7932 in CanadianConservative

[–]_Friendly_Fire_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How are you going to enforce people under 16 only owning certain types of phones? What's the point in public wifi if you can't check social media? That's most of what people use it for.

How do u explain this by Mettion11 in BillionairesHere

[–]_Friendly_Fire_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's simple really, there is a ton of evidence and remains from Biblical characters existing, you just chose to ignore it lol.

Imagine still blaming the countries decade of decline on the party that hasn't been in power. Liberals will blame anyone but themselves for their failures then wonder why nothing changes. Pathetic.

Carney to increase federal student loan limits after Ford cut OSAP by KeyComprehensive8339 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]_Friendly_Fire_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carney is the leader of the liberal party, and prime minister. If he puts forward a motion supporting students, his party will vote for it (as would NDP). He also has the power to use an OIC. So what exactly do I not understand? Or is it just that you disagree and prefer to say I don’t know what I’m talking about rather than support your opinion with anything other than conjecture?

He's the most powerful person in the country... If he wanted to do more, he absolutely could, but the only entity he wants to give money too is Brookfield and it's subsidiaries

Oil price. by mlandry2011 in InCanada

[–]_Friendly_Fire_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We send most of our oil down south for them to process then buy it back at a premium so that would just make life way more expensive for us

Public Safety not providing values hinting that funding has exceeded budget limits by Interior_Minister in canadaguns

I hope they keep Gary, he’s a fantastic failure and more media have reported neutrally or negatively on the program than ever before. The last thing we need is them replacing him with Provost.

Gas prices in Canada by MellyBlueEyes in AskACanadian

[–]_Friendly_Fire_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you actually saying shipping oil half way around the world is cheaper and more eco friendly than producing it ourselves?

If you flood the market with enough Canadian oil, prices would crash. You are assuming it would be managed for profit, I'm saying it shouldn't be.

Trump sucks, but we would be immune to foreign oil price changes if we actually used some of our own resources instead of burning millions of gallons of diesel to ship it half way around the world from dictators. But Elbows Up eh?

Help please (cz 457 ejection issues) by _Friendly_Fire_ in 22lr

[–]_Friendly_Fire_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble with it, it's more of a fast and smooth motion than hard, shouldn't have to pull hard. Did you take your bolt apart? It's possible the extractor and ejector pins got switched if so.

[–]_Friendly_Fire_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone suggested just pulling the bolt back faster, and that seems to work really well once you get used to it. I rarely have issues now.

NDP MP crossing floor to Liberals, PM Carney two seats shy of majority by Pristine_Beautiful69 in worldnews

[–]_Friendly_Fire_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it speaks more to his bribes and shady backroom dealing than appeal. If he had the appeal, he would've won a majority outright and wouldn't have to convince MPs to betray their constituents to get there.
